Most of you know that I just had a baby 3 months ago. She is cute and happy and makes our home a happier place. BUT while I was pregnant with her I threw up almost all 9 months. I had morning sickness for a few months with my other kids, but with Madilyn it lasted all nine months. Needless to say it did a number on my teeth, even with brushing. My very back tooth ended up needing a crown, due to my enamel breaking down, getting a cavity and then my tooth broke.

I normally brush my teeth first thing in the morning, but while I was pregnant doing it first thing made me throw up (I had to eat first). But I found myself not getting back up to the bathroom right away to brush my teeth. So I started stashing tubes of toothpaste and a toothbrush around the house, like a squirrel hiding her nuts for the winter. I found if I had “other places” to brush my teeth instead of just the bathroom I was able to make sure to get 2-3 brushings in a day to help maintain a healthy mouth.
4 Places to brush your teeth other than the bathroom:
In your car ~ Put a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush in your glove box. It is also a good idea to have a bottle of water so you can rinse and wash your toothbrush out too. I may or may not have watered the bushes a few times along the way :). I have used this several times when I have had a busy day running errands, and I have lunch and then want a quick “freshen up”. Cause lets face it, I love onions on my burger… but not such a fan of onion breath.
In your purse ~ Put a little dab of toothpaste on a cheap toothbrush put it in a ziploc bag and store it in your purse. Or you can buy Colgate Wisp since they are even smaller and more convenient. This has been very helpful when I am traveling or when I am out for the day. Now I can go to the movies, to the game, or school carnival and still be able to brush my teeth.
In the shower ~ I found it very convenient to brush my teeth while in the shower. I normally have to wait a few minute to let the conditioner “do it’s thing” in my hair… so I might as well be brushing my teeth while I am waiting. Once I am out of the shower I am clean, and my teeth are clean too.
At your desk ~ Don’t be shy, go ahead a put a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush in your desk drawer at work. After lunch or a sugary snack take a minute and go brush your teeth. Lot’s of people take a “smoke break”, so don’t be shy march out of there with your head held high knowing your are working towards a healthier mouth. Plus most your coworkers appreciate good oral hygiene. 🙂

It is odd that many people are hesitant to brush their teeth in public restrooms. However, it can be very beneficial to your health to do so.
