General Mills Promo spend $20 get back a $7 catalina good towards your next shopping trip (basically 35% off)

The fine print on this reads that minimum purchase is AFTER manufacturer and store coupons, this not normally how it works.  Normally you get the $20 mark and then bring it down with coupons and your catalina will still print.  I will have to wait until tomorrow to see how this promo is working?  I hope this is a one time thing, and not a sign of things to come.  It also reads limit i per customer, so I wonder if  the catalina will “roll”?    This makes what would be a really good promo….into an ok promo.

$1.00 items (.65 cents after catalina)

$1.25 items (.81 cents after catalina)

$1.50 items (.97 cents after catalina)

  • Betty Crocker frosting 12-16 oz ( .50 cents off 1 coupon form 2/7 GM insert)

$3.50 items ($2.27 after catalina)

  • Macaroni Grill Dinner Entree 8-18.2 oz ( $1.00 off coupon here)
  • Wanchai Ferry Dinner Kit 12.8-23.3 oz ($1.00 off coupon here, or the $1.50 coupon from the 2/21 smart source Idaho Statesman only)

Hi Sarah, sorry for the stupid quesiton but on the $20 get back $7 promo do you know that if I spend $40 in one transaction will 2-$7 catalina’s print or do I need to do 2 separate transactions to get two catalinas?

A Thrifty Mom March 3, 2010 at 3:14 pm

Naomi it is not a stupid question…each sale is differnt but normally it is $20 or more so only one will print per trip.

Hi Sarah,
I was going to do my Alb shopping tom, but now that we know there will be doubles starting on Sunday, wouldn’t it be better to buy the GM promo items with doubles? Just wondering????

Sometimes I clip coupons that I think I’ll need / use and then save the rest of them. It turns out I didn’t think to write the dates corresponding to each coupon booklet. Now when I see 11/22 SS I am not sure which Smart Source to look for. Do you know of a website that lists Sunday paper coupons with a cover image? I’ve had success google imaging or searching ebay for “11/22 SS” and matching them up that way, but can’t find one site that lists each date with an image.

Claire…look on the very edge of the insert on the outside cover and it will tell you the date

THANKS! :-)

Where do you get red plum coupons? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’m new to this!

A Thrifty Mom February 24, 2010 at 10:13 am

Jodi…glad to help and welcome to couponing…the Red Plum coupon are the sunday coupon inserts that come in the paper. The Red Plum is one of the 4 that show up ( each week is a little different)

ouch on the GM catalina. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. I hope it’s not a game changer, but could be. I limit my couponing to Wag’s & Alb’s in the interest of time. If Alb’s continues to have rather ho-hum ads, I may need to switch to Freddie’s(?)! Wow, never thought I’d say that, but their deals have been better or we got better at finding them!!

What zip is the cheese coupon found? I used to get it at my zip in Utah but it is no longer there.
