. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Emanson family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Julie Majetich this is the 206th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

It was a wonderful delight meeting this family. We met them in a village just outside Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Emansons live in a one bedroom mud house with no electricity or plumbing and for water they fetch from a local stream. The Emansons have 7 kids but they only live with the youngest kids and all their other kids are working as indentured servants to other families in exchange for them to be sent to school. This is a last resort for parents when they can no longer afford to care for their children. As an indentured servant they are suppose to care for the family, cook clean and in exchange get a daily meal and school. Often this does not work out and they are abused, not fed well or not permitted to go to school as first agreed upon.

The Emansons constructed a semi open kitchen at the back of their house. Mr EManson made it out of Palm fonds, Sticks and a tarp. It serves as their kitchen and they use firewood to cook because it is the cheapest means of fuel around. Mr Emanson is a trader and he sells palm oil in the market but due to the Covid pandemic, he has used his capital and his business has really been gutted. They are both farmers as well and they live off of their farm produce.

This family regardless of what they have gone through are a very happy and fun family. Mrs Emanson made us laugh the whole time we visited their family. They were ecstatic when they saw their bag of Rice and were very grateful to those who donated it for them. Christmas this year is going to be hard on most families as Nigeria has entered into a recession on top of everything we have to deal with in this country. I am so happy to be a part of this project and in times like this I am especially sure that we are guided by Angels in this journey.
