Can a watermelon be a pet ~ Garden Update

We were gone for a week and we came home to a garden FULL of produce.  Even though I had two friends pick our garden while we were gone…. it was out of control but in a good way 🙂

After a rough start our artichokes are doing well, and   the largest one isready to be picked.  The best part is these will grow back each  year!

My 4 year old loves her watermelon plant.  She was excited to run out and see how much it had grown while we were gone.  She sat and talked to her cute little watermelon and petted it as if  it was a cute little pet.  She is so attached to it, when it comes time to harvest she may not want to chop it into pieces.

Our plum tree is overloaded with plums, not quite ripe yet.  Still a little on the tart side, but that has not stopped the kids from filling there tummies each day!   Last but not least, our corn is over 6ft tall now it is not ripe just yet but almost there!

Right now our garden is producing:

  • Green Beans
  • Carrots
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Roma Tomatoes
  • Beef steak tomatoes
  • Banana Peppers
  • Bell peppers
  • Yellow Squash
  • Zucchini
  • Swiss Chard
  • Strawberries
  • Cucumbers
  • Plums
