Easy Thanksgiving Sign

I think Thanksgiving sometimes gets lost in the shuffle between Halloween and all of the fun there and Christmas and all the festivity with the Christmas season.  I for one love the fall season and colors so I enjoy decorating and bringing that into my home as long as possible!

This year I really do love gold.  I love the warmth it adds to the oranges, reds and browns.  It is so beautiful.

For this craft you will need

a piece of wood

paint of choice

vinyl of choice

Begin by choosing the size for your wood board.  Mine was 14×11.  Sand it and then paint your color of choice.  Now distress if desired.  I chose not to for this particular piece because I felt like the gold needed the glamour of clean paint.

I then cut out my vinyl with my Silhouette cutting machine.  I love this baby and use it all of the time!  I used gold oracal vinyl and after I created my vinyl, I arranged the letters to fit them all on a 9×12 sheet of vinyl.  I don’t like wasting any!

I used my transfer tape and applied my vinyl to the board after letting it dry for a day.  I love the way that it turned out!  The gold is very classy and stands out against the white beautifully!

Easy Fall Art Projects For Kids ~ that are low cost, easy, and turn out beautiful every time!

Fall craft projects for kids, LEAF RUBBING perfect for school age children, girl scout or boy scout craft ideas that are both educational and low cost

Easy Fall Art Projects For Kids ~ Leaf Rubbing

Leaf Rubbing can be done any time of the year (that you can find leaves) but we always do it in the Fall. I think it is because we see the beautiful colors they turn, thanks for mother nature and want to recreate that in an art project.  This is a great project to make with school age children or adults. Perfect for church groups or even girls scouts or boy scouts as they learn about different trees or plants.

To make you own leaf rubbing all you need is white  paper, I normally use a sturdy copy paper. Coloring crayons with the wrappers taken off, and scotch tape. You will also need an assortment of leaves fresh picked, so the ridges or lines show up good.

Tape your paper on one edge to the surface you are going to work on. In the photo below I have it taped to my side walk. But taping it to a table works just fine too.  I found that taping the paper helps the paper NOT shift so much and makes for a prettier finished picture.  Lay the leaves you have collected under the paper, put the paper on top.  Start rubbing the top of the paper using the length of your crayon as the coloring surface. Use as many colors as you want, watch a beautiful  image appear.

Mummy craft

A fun mummy craft perfect for kids and adults.

mummy craft

Not many supplies are needed to throw together this simple mummy craft, but, it is a great craft for kids and adults. Do it together for a fun craft day when the fall weather is too brisk to go outside. I made mine in an 8×10 size, so you can add it in a frame and share year after year.

You will need:

Brown or black paper (construction or cardstock)

white printer paper

distressing ink *optional

googly eyes

glue stick

mummy-craft-supplies

Begin tearing your paper into strips. I like them to be “messy” but you can rip your paper more carefully for a more clean look. Once you have some strips torn you will want to distress them. Ink pads are great for this, because you can just rub it across the ripped edge for a nice aged look.

I also chose to cut my paper down. I wanted the strips of paper to go all the way to the ends without the edges showing. So I cut my paper to an 8×10 size, leaving some overhang when I glued down the strips.

Now glue your strips down onto the paper starting at one end. Be sure to leave a small space where you will glue your googly eyes so they can peek out. Once I was done with that, I simply trimmed off the edges that hung over my paper giving it a straight edge.

I think it is a perfect, easy, Halloween craft perfect for any age.

Don’t want to chop up your pumpkin, but still want to get into the Halloween spirit? This Candy Corn Pumpkin is the perfect solution as SO CUTE!  Super easy to make and turns out adorable every time! Candy Corn Pumpkin, easy way to decorate a pumpkin without carving it #PumpkinIdeas, Perfect for Kids, #Halloween, #CandyCornCandy corns happen to be one of my favorite candy, and they make me think of fall.  I saw a candy corn pumpkin a few years ago and have always wanted to make one. Yesterday I finally took the time to paint one with my girls.  It was a quick and easy project that the girls had a fun time making.  I like the cute side of Halloween (not the ghost and goblins) so I am pretty excited about this adorable new pumpkin sitting on my front porch.

Candy Corn Pumpkin, easy way to decorate a pumpkin without carving it #PumpkinIdeas, Perfect for Kids, #Halloween, #CandyCornWe used a craft sponge to paint the Candy Corn Pumpkin.  I put the paint right on the sponge and then started to dab it on the pumpkin. I started with white on the top then did the yellow on the bottom.  We did two coats to cover the pumpkin, but if you use a good quality paint you might only have to do one layer.

Once the paint is dry,  tie a bow around the stem. Simple as that you have made your very own Candy Corn Pumpkin.
