How To Make A Stress Ball ~ Kid Crafts perfect for boy scouts, summer camp or family reunions!

This is a low cost project that kids of all ages will love.  My daughter made these in her 5th grade class and thinks they are the coolest thing ever. I remember making a version of a balloon stress ball when I was a kid too, but this version is much improved from what I made 20 years ago lol.

To make this project you will need:

  • 3 balloons
  • 1/3- 1/2 cup of flour
  • empty water bottle (with thin sides that you can squish)
  • funnel and pencil or chop stick
  • scissors
  • wet wash cloth

We bought our supplies at the local dollar store, but you can find balloons at almost any store!

  1.  Start with putting about 1/3 off a cup into a water bottle with a funnel. Use a pencil or a chop stick  to poke the flour into to bottle.  How much flour you need will vary on how big your balloons are. You want to fill the balloon all the way up, but too much flour will make it hard and not enough will make it to squishy.
  2. Take one balloon and blow it up as big as you can, then let all the air out.  Then blow it up again about half way, and twist it closed (NOT TIED IN A KNOT) just twisted.
  3. Hold the twisted part of your balloon and put the opening of the balloon over the water bottle.  Hold it tight and allow the neck of the balloon to un-twist.  You can now start to squish the flour from the bottle into the balloon.
  4. Once all the flour is in the balloon, hold the neck of the balloon and slowly let out the air. SLOWLY if you do it to fast the flour will fly out as well, making a huge mess.
  5. Take a wet rag and wipe off any flour that make have gotten on the outside of the balloon. You need the balloons to make a seal, and if there is flour on the outside they will not seal together.
  6. Set the balloon on the table and cut the neck of the balloon off.
  7. Take a 2nd balloon and also cut the neck of that balloon off. Put your fingers inside the opening to make the hole larger and wrap it around the balloon you have with flour on it. Careful not  to spill the flour out.
  8. Once again wipe off any flour that may have gotten on the outside,  and do step 7 again with another balloon. For a total of 3 balloon on the outside.

April FOOLS!
What a fun and easy idea to make for your family on April 1st.
This could be sent in their lunches, on the breakfast table, or brought to coworkers.
A fun treat!
IngredientsIngredients:
Yellow M&M’s
Mini stick Pretzels
White melting chocolate
Cut tip offThis is super easy and fun to make.
Instructions:
Lay wax paper on a baking sheet.  The wax paper is used so the chocolate will not stick.

1. Break the pretzels in half, so they are the correct size to fit on the white of the eggs. Set them aside for later.
2.  Pull out the yellow M&M’s and put them aside.
I used green too.  Thought it would be fun to have some Green eggs and ham too.
3.  Put a handful of white chocolate circles in a bowl.  Put the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds.  Stir.  Microwave for 30 seconds at a time until the chocolate is melted.
4.  Pour the chocolate in a ziplock bag and cut off the tip.
5.  Make mini circles the shape of an egg.  A handful of chocolates made 8 eggs.
Take the back of a spoon and smooth the chocolate out more.
Chocolate on the board6.  Place the M&M’s and the pretzels in the soft white chocolate.
7.  Let the chocolate harden.

1 pintrestMy kids love to paint!
Why not make a craft project with your kids using food coloring and milk ?
My kids range from 7-17 years of age,
and they all loved making their own piece of art out of bread.
2 ingredientsSupplies:
White Bread
Milk
Clean paint brush
Food Coloring
3 foodcoloringGather 4 cups and 4 spoons-
Pour 1/8 cup of milk in each cup with 3-5 drops of food coloring; stir.
4 painted breadPaint a fun design.  DO NOT apply too much milk so that the bread is soaked.
Apply a small amount of milk on the brush and lightly paint onto the bread.
If too much milk is added, it is okay, it will not completely dry when toasted.
Yet, it taste just the same.
5toasted breadToast the bread.  The toasted area will turn brown where the color is not at.
My daughter cut out some butterflies with a cookie-cutter and painted them too.

Maracas Made From Plastic Eggs, Recycle Those Easter Eggs!

If you have kids and do any sort of Easter egg hunt you probably have an abundance of these little guys around the house right after Easter, am I right?  They seem to multiply! Last year I was so excited because I thought we used the last of ours at a family egg hunt.  I didn’t consider that my kids were also participating and we brought home just as many as we took!  Oh well, you might be glad you have extra because now you can make these!

You will need:

plastic eggs

plastic spoons

washi or duck tape

beans, rice, gravel, something to place in your eggs

These are great because they don’t require a trip to the store.  Use what you have and they will be perfect! You will need 2 spoons for every 1 plastic egg.

Begin by putting some of your filler inside your egg.  I used beans because I had them already and they are super inexpensive.  I didn’t fill them very full, you want the beans to be able to move around.  So i filled one half of an egg about half way.  Feel free to experiment and see if different fillings change the sound of the maraca!

Make sure your egg is shut all the way.  You want to be sure you are using an egg that will close all the way, sometimes these eggs like to come apart on their own, don’t use one of those.

Once you have filled it and shut it, place it between two plastic spoons and wrap a few times in your washi tape.

That is it!  Wasn’t that easy?  I thought this would be great for a preschool group or a church nursery.  As long as you keep an eye to make sure they are not opening them.

Enjoy your new instruments!
