Valentine Craft For Kids ~ Hidden Message Hearts

My girls love doing craft projects and writing notes. This week they made HIDDEN MESSAGE HEARTS, using the crayon resist trick.   Such a simple project but it kept them totally entertained for a few hours.

To make your own, you will need:

Valentine note with a hidden message, fun craft idea for kids

Cut hearts out of white paper.  Use a WHITE color crayon to write a hidden message.

To reveal the hidden message use a paint brush to paint water color paint over the top. Where the crayon is will resist the paint and show the hidden message.  Simple as that you have a FUN project for your kids to do.

Football Juice Boxes~Football Party Idea

This weekend is the big game!  Whether you are hosting a party, going to a party, or planning on just tuning in at home, this idea will have even the littlest football fans feeling the football spirit!  Or, maybe you aren’t watching the game at all, but are planning a sports themed party for a kid in your life.  These would be perfect for that!  A decoration that is useful and inexpensive!

You will need:

Brown paper (I used normal weight scrapbook paper but construction paper or card stock would also work)

White paper (Scraps work nicely)

Scissors and glue or tape

Juice boxes

Begin by cutting your paper into three strips.  Now fold around your juice box creasing with your fingers as you get to an edge.

Tape or glue the paper to the box.  I would recommend this, because otherwise the paper could slide off and then you will have a juice box accident on your floor.  So, unless you are going to have the child take off the football paper before drinking, do yourself a favor and attach it to the box.

Once you have covered the juice box, you can cut off the end of your strip of paper.  If you used paper with a white side like I did, you can use those scraps for the white accents.  If not, grab a piece of printer paper or some scraps.  Cut some thin strips.  You will want one longer one and a few shorter ones.  Attach them on to resemble the laces or threads.  This would work great on boxes of crackers too.  It would take more paper, but would make your party set up look great!

Valentines day Craft ideas, no sew Bow tie shirt for kids, fast and easy low cost and super cute!

No Sew Bow-tie Valentine’s Shirt

This could be made for a boy or a girl, but this cute little number is for my handsome kindergartner.  This shirt is a simple project and can be made by almost any skill level. My little guy is going to love this “fancy tee”, watch out girls he is dressed to impress.

Supplies:

  • T shirt
  • Polka dot fabric – fat quarter cut is more than enough.
  • Red fabric – I just used some scraps that I had
  • No sew adhesive – found in fabric departments, I’ve even seen it in Walmart
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Iron
  • Scissors
Valentines day Craft ideas, no sew Bow tie shirt for kids, fast and easy low cost and super cute!
Directions:
  1. Start by getting your bow-tie shape. Since I’m one for symmetry I simply did this by folding my piece of paper in half and drawing half of a bow-tie then cutting it out. It took a few tries to get the size and shape I wanted.
  2. Once you have your bow-tie, do the same thing for your heart shape.
  3. Following the instructions from your no sew adhesive, adhere your fabric to the adhesive using your iron -medium heat and no steam
  4. Do this for the polka dot fabric and the red fabric
  5. Using your bow-tie template trace onto the polka dot fabric and cut out
  6. Cut out a small strip to wrap around the center of the bow-tie as well
  7. Do the same for the heart template and the red fabric.
  8. Peel off your adhesive’s paper backing for the bow-tie and the strip.
  9. Wrap the strip around the center of the bow tie, making sure that the ends are on the back side. Place it on your T shirt where you want it to lay and use your iron to adhere it to the shirt.
  10. (Again, follow the instructions from your adhesive for temperature and time)
  11. Once the bow-tie is secure,  place the heart where you want it to lay and iron on.
  12. Finished!

Mummy craft

A fun mummy craft perfect for kids and adults.

mummy craft

Not many supplies are needed to throw together this simple mummy craft, but, it is a great craft for kids and adults. Do it together for a fun craft day when the fall weather is too brisk to go outside. I made mine in an 8×10 size, so you can add it in a frame and share year after year.

You will need:

Brown or black paper (construction or cardstock)

white printer paper

distressing ink *optional

googly eyes

glue stick

mummy-craft-supplies

Begin tearing your paper into strips. I like them to be “messy” but you can rip your paper more carefully for a more clean look. Once you have some strips torn you will want to distress them. Ink pads are great for this, because you can just rub it across the ripped edge for a nice aged look.

I also chose to cut my paper down. I wanted the strips of paper to go all the way to the ends without the edges showing. So I cut my paper to an 8×10 size, leaving some overhang when I glued down the strips.

Now glue your strips down onto the paper starting at one end. Be sure to leave a small space where you will glue your googly eyes so they can peek out. Once I was done with that, I simply trimmed off the edges that hung over my paper giving it a straight edge.

I think it is a perfect, easy, Halloween craft perfect for any age.
