About Us

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 10 years to my best friend. I am head over heels in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together.

I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet.

I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

How I clip my coupons

I got an email for one of my readers who just started couponing.  She was all excited about starting to save money.  She got her first set of Sunday papers and felt defeated 3 hours later…..when she was STILL clipping coupons.  So I thought I would share a few of my tips on how I am able to clip 10 sets of coupons, and file them away in less than an hour.

Start out by separating the coupon insert, on the floor or table.  Do this to all the coupon insert that are the same….so you now have stacks of pages that are the same.

Once you have all the pages laid out in piles……make sure they are nice and in order.

I then put a staple in the middle of the coupon, on the photo normally.  DO NOT staple the bar code or the expiration date.  When you staple the coupons all together they are easier to cut because the papers do not shift. Plus you only have to put one stack of coupon away…instead of 10 separate coupons.

When I clip the coupon I go ahead and give myself a little extra room around the edges to make sure I do not cut part of the coupons off.  And just like that you have clipped 10 coupons in the time it takes to clip 1.  This is what works for me….hope it helps someone else too.
