I am a stay at home mom with three wonderful kids. I have been married for over 8 years to my best friend. I am head over heals in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together.
I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet.
I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

Please note that our local Nampa Sam’s club is closing it’s doors ( makes me sad to see any business close!) So this is for local readers only!

Thanks to Teri for passing this along!
Good Evening. I just wanted to let you in on something that others might find useful. I was just at Sam’s Club as we were in the area Figured I might as well see what was left. We did pick up a couple of things and our checker told us to go ahead and cancel our membership they were giving full refunds not prorating them. I had to stand in line for about 20 minutes but I did end up with my full 40 dollar membership fee back even though my membership was coming up for renewal on Feb 14 2010. Basically I got the use of Sam’s Club over the last year for free. So if anyone else is a member it would be worth it to stop in before they close and get your refund. I don’t know about you but 40 bucks is a decent amount of money to me.

UPDATE***Thanks to Russ for letting me know they have now marked everything down to only $3.99!!!!
Thanks to Mishelle for passing this along,
I just thought I’d let you know that at the Boise Town Square Mall the New York & Co. store is closing and so ALL of their clothes are priced at $5.99. Kind of fun shopping when you don’t have to keep looking at the price tag!
This weekend I went to my Sister in-laws baby shower, while I was there I met her cousin who happens to read my blog. Her husband and her also own the local Nampa IHOP. She told me about a few very THRIFTY deals that they have and I was so excited to pass them along to all of you!

Seniors BOGO FREE!
Every night at IHOP from 2pm to close they have BUY one get one FREE on any menu item with the purchase of 2 beverages. The menu states seniors are 55 or older.
Kids Eat for only $1.99 every night!!!
Every night kids eat for only $1.99 from 4pm to close. Kids meal includes a drink too!
Both of these offers state they are not valid with other discounts or coupons.
This is only offered at the NAMPA IHOP!

Matthew with a mouth full of bacon…can you tell he is loving IHOP!!!
We do not go out to eat very often, but we thought we would try out the $1.99 kids meal offer. First off I have to say my kids were SO EXCITED to go to IHOP. They had never been before, they were so excited to pick their own meal ( without being told no that cost to much….yes that is normally what I say). They had a huge selection too, with fun photos to choose from, anything from breakfast – dinner. And nice big portions as well!

At only $1.99 this is something we will have to do more often! Matt and I totally enjoyed our meal as well…and their prices are great too!
Thanks to Teri for passing this along,
Have you been to the big white barn on Fairview and Cloverdale in Boise. The thing I am happiest about is the case of broccoli for $8.95 it weighs 19 lbs including the box. Tomorrow I am going to blanch and freeze it all. My husband is thrilled because broccoli is one thing we can not seem to grow ourselves and he loves it.
I also got:
2 three lb bags of tangerines @.98 cents a bag
3 or so lbs of cherries at .98 cents a lb
Several salad tomatoes .98 cents a lb
And a few other things that I can’t remember the prices on, those just stuck in my mind. It is family run and they are VERY friendly and helpful. This would be a great place to check out when in Boise and their products are very nice. I am so glad to find a place where I like the produce and the prices are frugal.

I got an email last week from one of my readers husbands who owns a flooring installation company in Boise. As a special thanks for helping their family save with coupons. He would like to offer A Thrifty Mom readers a discount of 15% on any type of flooring installation ( hardwood, carpet, tile, etc). They install anywhere within 5 hours of Boise.

Thanks to Christy who sent me this great deal she got at a local shop in Caldwell, called Story and Company. I have not been to this store, but it sound like one I need to visit!
If any of you haven’t been to Story & Company in downtown Caldwell, then you are MISSING out! Ruth Story has some incredible deals down there. There is some fantastic original pieces of jewelry, amazing handbags and great clothes! It is a consignment shop, but it very much has a department store feel to it. I was just incredibly impressed.
I found some items that I just couldn’t live without! I found this incredible jewelry set:

This great bag:
And last, but not least this really cool bracelet:
What did all of this great stuff cost me? Absolutely nothing, which is of course my FAVORITE price. LOL. Ruth just took some of my like new and gently used items and traded me for these new things. I was thrilled. I have an appointment to take her a bunch of dress clothes from back in my insurance days that I will probably NEVER fit into again. I’ve had another baby since then, so unless a miracle happens and I turn into an exercise junkie, I decided I had to be realistic. What better way to add to my current will-fit wardrobe and accessory collection then getting rid of stuff that I’ve had boxed up forever?
Story & Compasny is located at 724 Arthur St. (208) 454-6515

I was in my Albertsons store today and they have the kids Colgate toothpaste with Diego on it for clearance at 1.19 each. I had a 1.00 off two coupon that expired on 12/31/2009 not sure what insert. Total cost 1.38 for two tubes of toothpaste. They had many of them on the shelf. They also had some hams on sale with 2.00 off tags and there was Sierra Mist 2 liters that are part of the buy three get a 1.00 off with 50 cents off each coupons on them. I paid 1.10 for the 3, 2 liters. These were over by the meat too.
Thanks to Terri for passing this along,
Fresh express spinach 2.69. BOGO. There are coupons at 16th st store for 2.00 off of 2 packages, so net is 69 cents for two.

I was just watching my local Channel Seven news and they said that a Christmas tree vendor is going to give away 150 FREE Christmas trees at the Nampa JC Penny store at 9 am tomorrow 12/22. They want to give them away, instead of putting them thru a tree chipper. If you know a family that still needs a tree…this is a very thrifty deal. I bet they will go fast so get there early!

Michael’s is making a bookmark Saturday, December 12th from 1-3PM. Details HERE.
