Quickie contacted A Thrifty Mom to test drive the NEW Quickie Household Power Scrubber.
Ingard offered to try this little gadget on her glass shower:
The first thing I was happy to find was the installation of the batteries was SUPER easy. NO twisting and turning or even a screwdriver was needed! Just pull out the battery pack located at the end of the handle, place in the included 4 AA batteries and you are ready to start scrubbing. The two heads (a scrubbie and a brush) included were easily interchanged as well.
I must say I was sceptical about the power but I really only held the easy- to-hold tool in place reapplying my cleaning product as needed this product proceeded to scrub the ENTIRE shower with significantly LESS effort than with a handheld scrubby pad and my elbow grease. I even submerged the whole tool in my water bucket and sprayed water all over it while rinsing the shiny clean shower stall. While I was scrubbing I was dreaming of other places that this tool would come in handy:
the glass top stove
the kitchen sink
the bathroom sink
and even those windows where the sprinkler hits and leaves water spots.
When I was done I even gave myself a pedicure while enjoying the spring breeze coming in the bathroom window.
I am SO excited to tell you about the newest product I get to review. Tria Beauty has given me a Laser Hair Removal Hair Removal Lazer to use and see if I can ZAP away all my unwanted hair. Now don’t worry I am not going to show up in 6 months looking like a hairless cat… My goal is to reduce or eliminate my underarm hair and leg hair. WHY, you ask? Because I have dark, thick, stubble that grows by the hour and I HAVE TO shave daily. It is a waste of time and I would love to have to never shave again!
Tweet about this giveaway “Radio Flyer is how I roll @RadioFlyer @athriftymom #ATMGiveaway”
Radio Flyer is a brand I loved as a child and one my children now love as well. They have been around since 1917 and have been making children smile for over 95 years! I got to review the GrooveGlider (with built in MP3 speakers to rock and roll at the same time). My daughter has outgrown her 3 wheeled Radio Flyer we got her 3 years ago so I was very excited to surprise her with a new “Big Girl Scooter”.
It came in 4 section and easy to read assembly instructions. You pretty much just snap it together and hold it in place with 4 bolts. It took less than 15 minutes to put together, good to know if you plan to get this for a Christmas gift!
I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the last bolt threw the bottom, but I had Matt help me squeeze the bottom together and it slid right into place.
It was easy to ride… I even tired it out! My daughter has been riding it for hours after school and I am really impressed with how quick she was able to transtiion from the 3 wheel scooter to the 2 wheeled one. She thinks the music port is rather awesome and hopes to get an MP3 player for Christmas so use with it:)
You can watch this Radio Flyer Groove Glider video to see what she though of it on ourYoutube channel !

We love being able to do things on our own at a thrifty price. Each school year we make laminated tags to go on the kid’s backpacks. First to help our oldest remember which bus he rides. Second to help our kids remember our address and phone numbers. Also it helps our son’s school aid have a quick reference to all of our phone numbers in case some thing were to happen to him.
With the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator we were able to quickly make a small tag to add to our kids backpack. We even had fun making one for our youngest in preschool so she didn’t feel left out. The kids had so much fun helping slide the paper into the film envelope. And they got to take turns sliding the envelope into the front of the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator and watch it slide out the back completely sealed!
One of the best things that I noticed about the quality of the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator is that it has a very tight seal around the edge of what ever you put in to get laminated. We have all seen those laminators that leave bubbles around the edges of the paper . In school I would try and squeeze out those bubbles on the edge. Call it OCD but I enjoyed doing it. With the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator, it seals the film so tightly around the paper inside that there is nothing there to try and squeeze! So now I can take my self diagnosed OCD to another task – laminating every piece of important paper I can find!
Want your own? Enter to win your very own Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator. Make those school projects special by creating your own signs, or important pieces for the project to look clean and sharp. With the high quality lamination that only Fellowes can bring to back to school projects your kids will learn to love all things school related!

Recently we were given the opportunity to check out one of the Danze Faucets. This Oil rubbed Bronze faucet by Danze is an affordable option to bring an element of high class living into your home. This review is strictly my own opinion and we were not paid for this review.
One first look of this faucet when we opened the box, I saw a very well laid out packaging. Each item was securely placed and stored. This might be trivial but after a crazy couple days in the back of a shipping truck a lot of damage can be done to a faucet. So a secure packaging can ease the stress by having a perfect product to start with and not worry about sending a damaged product back. The photo below shows the parts with out their wrap on them. But I wanted to show the stiff packaging designed for each part to keep it secure.
The next item I looked for was the extra sprayer and how it was designed. In our old house I had a common faucet brand that I replaced the sprayer handle three times. Why? Because that brand of sprayer faucet was made of two pieces of plastic fused together creating a seam down the outside of the handle. And in just a week or two the handle would begin to leak water out of the seam. So with the Danze faucet, I checked to see if there was a seam. And there was “No” seam. it was made out of one piece of material. And unlike the plastic model of the competitors, the Danze sprayer was made of all metal! I was thrilled because I knew it couldn’t leak there.
When I installed the faucet, one thing I noticed was the ease and simplicity of the instructions. All too often instructions for products seem to be written by someone who’s first language is “not” English. I am sure we have all come across that. With the instructions by Danze, they are clearly written, labeled, and offer great step by step processes to install each part of your new faucet.
So often it can be over whelming to work on a faucet, even more to actually install one! Many times it is tempting to have a plumber come over and install the faucet for you. One of the best ways to save money is to learn to do the installs your self. by saving on the labor to install you can use that money on other items for your remodel. So whether you are remodeling your kitchen or bath with a completer over haul or you are changing the look of your remodel by simply changing the faucet out to a new faucet, using a Danze faucet will give you the elegance of a high quality product with the ease and peace of mind of a professorial faucet installation made simple.
While I was in New York City for Blogher Matt and I were invited to watch the new Disney film The Odd Life Of Timothy Green. The movie will not be in theaters till tomorrow. This movie caught my eye since I first saw a preview months ago. So I was tickled pink to be selected to watch it early.
When I chat with my friends the first question is always … is this a firm worth paying to see in the theater or should I wait for it to come to video and rent it for a $1. Well I absolutely LOVED the show, in fact once it was over I looked at my watch I could not believe how quick the time went. I loved every second of it! The Odd Life Of Timothy Green is a show that I feel comfortable recommending to all ages. It is uplifting and enjoyable for the whole family. Most of you know I am rather conservative and do not recommend many films… but this one made the cut and will be one we watch again and again.
The film starts off telling the story of Timothy, and within the first few minutes of the show I was totally emotionally invested in the story. When a young married couple is told there is no way they will ever have a baby… something they had longed for and now was snatched away. It was heartbreaking to watch them go thru those emotions and dealing with the loss of the dream they once had.
But then Timothy arrives and brings the sunshine that a child brings to a home. There is a moment in the film where Timothy calls them Mom and Dad and it captures that magical feeling that all parents feel as they become parents and see their child for the the first time. The realization that your life will never be the same, and this bundle of joy has captured your heart.
There are a lot of tears shed both happy and sad, but there are also moments that will make you laugh out loud. There are great life lessons, and moments to help us remember that ALL kids are different. Learning to deal with those differences is where the real strength of character comes.
Like I said before this is an amazing film and one worth watching! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 12 years to my best friend. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". If you didn't know already - I'm a Heart Mom. Our oldest has a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He basically has half a heart. We even started a charity called Save Lives Save Money to help other heart families in their time of need. Where couponers give back to help pay for basic needs of families in need.
I was raised on a small dairy farm. I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, and coupon shop, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch recipes and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet. You can follow our weekly Menu Plan to see how you can coupon and eat healthy at the same time!
I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. From our Coupon Database, to our page to print coupons, our Couponing 101, our Freebies 101 - we like to call it a Thrifty Living Lifestyle. We post my weekly budget review so you can see exactly how far you can stretch a budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me. For more info see A Thrifty Mom in the Media.
