This past month we have shared a couple posts about internet security. We have talked about how F-Secure SAFE has come out with an all inclusive way to protect every device in your home. I mentioned that even my almost two year old loves to get online and watch kid videos on Youtube. It is crazy the videos that are online. She watches these silly videos where the guy wraps little toys inside playdoh and the entire video is the unwrapping and surprising the viewer. Our little girl and sit there for hours watching these simple videos with millions and millions of views. Her favorite spot to watch them is sitting right up next to her daddy. Lucky he is there to make sure she is watching safe videos. That is one reason why we love the features on F-Secure SAFE. It used to be that every now and then she would come across a more adult video, not crazy but just too adult for her. With the F-Secure SAFE we can set the settings on the parental controls. We can limit the chances of certain content getting through to our sweet baby or any of our other kids. My oldest boy loves sports and we all know the Sports Illustrated swimsuit content is not something for a young mind, in our eyes. My two older girls love to watch tutorials on science and even fashion or different ways to do their hair. And if you have ever search Youtube for any kind of content you can see that every now and then more adult themes sometimes pop up in the search feed.

F-Secure SAFE helps us limit the type of content any of our children might be exposed to. And it does not matter the type of device that our kids use, F-Secure SAFE works on all devices. So if one uses my tablet, the other the computer, the other my phone, and so on, they are all protected. And like most kids today they rather be searching through the internet instead of playing outside. Another awesome feature in parental controls is that you can set timers on the usage. So now once the kids reach their time limit they can then break away and go out and blow some stink off as my hubby always says! We love it when they play together online and laugh together at videos they share together. But we also feel they need to limit their time spent online and get up and stay physically active too.

We think it is important for our kids to stay connected with the world and remain up to date with technology and the ever quick changes online and in technology. The world changes so fast and technology is what drives it. No mater what one may think of it, everything now and even more in the future will be driven by technology. And with all of the changes it is darn near impossible to stay current on all of the security measures needed to maintain a safe home. That is where F-Secure SAFE comes into play. Now we can set the time limits, the content that we are exposed to and all of the things in the background are all maintained and secured through the programming from there on out. F-Secure SAFE does all of the hard work by keeping our electronics protected from viruses and malware and everything in between and beyond. It is all inclusive, just like those cruise vacations we all like to go on. You just go and don’t worry about all the details.  That is what we love about it! Try it for four months free too!

In today’s world nearly everything is connected to the internet. A few years ago it was just science fiction ideas. Today it is a reality. You can lock your house from your smartphone on a beach in the Caribbean and answer the door while seeing in real time who is actually at the door. Even coffee machines, air conditioner and furnaces, just about everything in your entertainment system, and even your fridge are all connected to your home internet. Having more and more items in your home connected to the internet can in fact make life easier. And if for some reason someone hacks into your coffee maker its nor big deal if they make a fresh batch of coffee, but what about our kids. We have five kids from fourteen down to almost two. My oldest loves watching sports and playing online games. My second oldest loves learning facts online and watching funny YouTube videos. Even my youngest who is only 23 months old loves to watch funny kid shows on YouTube. Even at her age she can turn on my phone, flip through the apps till she finds her YouTube app, sign in to an account and scan through the videos till she finds her favorite videos. It’s amazing how young kids today are so computer and internet savvy.

So how do we give our family the technological freedom to learn and progress in the online world without sacrificing safety and security for not only our children but even our expensive devices? Sure we can sit right next to our kids and watch their every search and action online. Or we could have only one computer and never use smartphones or other devices. The point in history where there is only one device that connects to the internet was written in history twenty years ago because in today’s world everything is connected and everyone has a phone, even elementary kids. So what is the best way to protect our family, our children and our expensive devices? It can be stressful trying to figure out which devices or programs that are the best for our needs. There are so many different options and different programs that only work with this or that device.

SAFE_5devices_reflectionWhy F-Secure SAFE is the best security for all devices

Why should we have to buy different protection programs that only work on certain devices? Why should we buy one program to protect our devices from viruses and malware and then another program for browsing protection and parental control? F-Secure SAFE does all the above for all devices. It simplifies everything we need to protect our family and devices from all angles. F-Secure SAFE protects from the latest viruses, malware, spyware, stop hackers and identity thieves, online protection for your family from unwanted content, block unwanted text or calls, protection for online shopping and banking, even locating your device if stolen and protecting your files if stolen as well. I’m telling you it does everything. I wonder if it will even wash the dishes? May the next update, who knows!

Now you can purchase one program that won’t bog down your device with all kinds of separate programs trying to do what just one program can do. Shop online, let your kids watch their favorite subscriptions on YouTube, and never worry about what your kids are watching or if your banking accounts are being stolen or if there’s a virus on your computer. And if your phone is stolen or lost your files and security information on it will be save and secure. So set your parental controls, sit back on what ever device you have and enjoy your family and don’t worry if your youngest is programming her own app’s, who knows.

And right now you can get

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scott Tube-Free for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Scott Tube-Free Toilet paper, great way to help the environment and saves you time too #ad #scotttubefree #tossthetubeWhen I go to the store there are a few items that are always on my list. Items such as milk, eggs, bread, fruit, and toilet paper. Pretty much the basics in life, these items are a must (at least in our house). We have a family of seven, yes that means I have 5 kids. Our little baby girl is still in diapers but that leave 6 of us that use toilet paper every single day, multiple times a day!

We have three bathrooms and it seems like almost every time I walk into one of them I have an empty toilet paper roll staring at me, just hanging on the wall waiting for me to change it. Or it is just tossed on the floor. It drives me nuts! Sure it only takes me a few seconds to take the old cardboard tube off and add a new roll, or to pick the tube up off the floor. But doing this almost every day of my life gets old!Scott Tube-Free Toilet paper, great way to help the environment and saves you time too #ad #scotttubefree #tossthetube

Don’t get me wrong we have made some pretty amazing kid crafts out of those tubes, everything from binoculars, flutes, bird feeders, heart stamps… they are amazing for kids art projects. Yet I have often thought there has got to be a better way. Did you know the “tube” in toilet paper has been the same for almost a 100 years? Did you know that Scott came out with Scott Tube-Free toilet paper? Looks pretty much the same, you would never know the difference until you look at the side and realize there is no tube inside the roll.

Sounds like a great plan, but does it still work the same? I just told you all that it feels as if I am the only one in the house who will change the tube over to a new roll. But I wanted to make sure my kids could add the new Scott Tube-Free toilet paper if they needed too. Sure enough it was super easy, even my six year old son could slide it on without any trouble.  I love that once they get to the end of the roll it is just gone, no tube to mess with.  All you gotta do is slide another roll on!Scott Tube-Free Toilet paper, great way to help the environment and saves you time too #ad #scotttubefree #tossthetube

I love the time saving aspects of this, but I also love the environmental  difference it can make. They estimate that each person will use over 3000+ rolls of toilet paper in their lifetime. So that would mean my family of 7 would use  over 31,000 rolls. Pretty sure I would need to change out about 20,000 of those myself (life of a Mom) lol. It’s such an easy way to make an difference by switching to Scott Tube-Free toilet paper! Do you think that is just silly, it will not  make much of an impact? Did you know in just 2 minutes (yes only 120 seconds) Americans will go through over 66,000 tubes! Makes you think a little bit more about how awesome the tube free option is!

Would you like to try out Scott Tube-Free toilet paper yourself? Right now you can get your very own Scott Tube-Free coupon. Wow, this is a great high value coupon! If you happened to find this on sale and then match the coupon with the sale it would turn into a super thrifty deal. Make sure you go grab your Scott Tube-Free coupon and put it in your purse so you can grab a package next time you are at the store.  If you want to know what stores sell it or where you can buy it online Scott’s has all that information for you, just click this link Where to find Scott Tube-Free toilet paper.Scott Tube Free coupon

If you like silly pranks you are going to love this video below. Scott Tube-Free teamed up with a YouTube prankster, to demonstrate how the toilet paper tubes we use have a big impact on our world. At minute 12:00 is where the prank starts you can watch it below.

6 Easy Ways To Teach Your Children About Birds, Bird feeders at ACE Hardware, Fiary Garden Ideas , where to buy birdfeeders, how to make bird feeders with your family, family activities to do outside, ad

I am excited to team up with Ace Hardware to be an “Ace Birding Blogger”, this is a sponsored post but all opinions and ideas are my own.

Ace birding blogger

As a little girl I remember going to my Grandma and Grandpa Ashby’s house and watching birds with them.  Sometimes we would just sit and watch them through the kitchen window. But  if it was nice outside we would sit outdoors and watch the birds flutter from one tree to another and listen to them sing their songs. I grew to love watching the birds, and is a memory I cherish.Spring bird feeders at ACE Hardware, how to make bird feeders with your family, family activities to do outside, ad

Stopping to listen and watch the birds was something I had to learn. How many times had I run through their yard and totally missed the birds?  I had to learn to sit, listen and watch and like magic a whole other world unfolded in our own front yard. This is something I would like to pass down to my own children.

6 Easy ways to teach your children about birds

  1. Get your kids involved and excited about bird watching.  If you do not already have birds in your yard, a good way to attract them is by putting a bird feeder in your yard.   Let your kids go to the store with you and help you pick out a bird feeder. Something as simple as allowing them to pick the color of the feeder helps to give them ownership of this new project. We went to our local Ace Hardware store, they had a great selection to pick from. We also got a huge bag of bird seed for  just under seven dollars.  Our local store is in Middleton, Idaho.  A small town, kind of a hidden treasure. You can beat the crowds and there are always friendly staff to help you with what ever you need. They even help you load your stuff into your car if you want!

2. Look to see what kinds of plants attract birds in your area. Not all birds can live in your particular climate, so look for birds that are native to your area and build a space in your yard for them. My girls are hoping the hummingbirds come back to our yard this year.  So we looked for bright colored flowers with tubular shape that hold nectar, since that is what they are most attracted too.   We also bought a hummingbird feeder for them.  Our local Ace store had them for only $3.99, which is a really good deal!  Plus I can’t kill a feeder…. where I might end up killing the flowers, lol.  Our summers get pretty hot and about mid July I tend to start loosing flowers due to the heat.

3. Knowledge is power and often makes them want to learn more. Teach your child a few things about the birds in your area. For example as we planted our bright colored flowers and filled our hummingbird feeder,  we also read a few facts about them. One of my daughters favorite was the fact that their long tongues could lick their food at the rate of 13 licks per second.  A few other fun facts, they only live 4 years and their hearts can beat 1,260 beats per minute.  My girls then had fun seeing how fast they could move their own tongue,  and counting their heart rate.

4. Create a memory and share in the excitement.   Remember when I told you earlier how I learned to watch the birds from my grandparents.  I have never stopped to fully appreciate them if I have not spent the time with my grandma and grandpa all those years ago.  I could see how much they loved watching the birds, and I felt special that they would spend time with me, doing something they loved.  If you want your kids to learn about birds, join them. Get your hands dirty, help them fill up the feeders.  Giggle with them as they act like a silly little bird, and help them create a memory they will always remember.  If they have a positive first experience they want to learn more in the future.

5. Let them dream. While we were at Ace my girls found a bird house that they wanted to add to their fairy garden. It was ceramic with a pretty teal roof. They both fell in love with it.  Now there is  a chance that the birds are not going to use this little ceramic house,  so I was very temped to tell them no and to only pick out the feeders that would actually attract birds.  But my heart saw the sparkle in their eyes, and I realized they will only be little for awhile. Before I know it fairy gardens will be a thing of the past, so let them dream.  They each picked out a few flowers to fill the flower pots and spent over an hour creating their own little fairy garden in a corner of our yard.

6. Be consistent. Don’t just fill up the bird feeders once and never check them again.  Every other day or so, check your bird feeders to see if they need refilled. The ones we bought at Ace are pretty big and will stayed filled for a week or two depending on how many birds feed off of them.  Watch for feathers on the ground to see what kind of birds might we feeding if you have not been able to see them in person yet.  My girls just sat and looked UP the other night, and they were totally supersized to see two birds sitting in the tree above us, just watching us below.   When they got off the bus the next day, they stopped and looked up, to see if they were still up there, much to their delight they were!Bird feeders at ACE Hardware, Looking up to see the birds, where to buy birdfeeders, how to make bird feeders with your family, family activities to do outside, ad
