About Us I am a stay at home mom with three wonderful kids. I have been married for over 8 years to my best friend. I am head over heals in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together. I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet. I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

Thrifty Winco deal

tuna helper

Thanks to Nancy for passing this along,

At Winco today I found Tuna Helper priced at 98 cents. Many of the boxes have peelies that say $1.00 of any tuna fish with the purchase of a tuna helper. The Hy-top tuna is 48 cents. That makes one box of Tuna Helper and a can of tuna only 46 cents. And if you use the .75 of 3 boxes of hamburger/tuna helper, It makes it only 23 cents for both. I bought 6 boxes of tuna helper and 6 cans of tuna for $1.38 plus tax. The cashier wasn’t really excited about the hamburger/tuna helper coupon (internet printable) but after conferring with the manager they decided to take them. YMMV! Good luck!

WINCO now taking Internet printable coupons!!!!!

As of last week WINCO will now take internet printable coupons, as long as they scan,  and have a bar code.  They put out a memo from corporate last week, so if your cashier gives you any trouble kindly ask for a manager.  Anytime a store changes there policy it takes them a while to get all there staff trained.  It is always best to ask what the policy is before you load up you cart!

Have you checked your mail box today?  I got an ad from winco with FREE coupons, sliced bacon, english Muffins and Large eggs.  I love a Thrifty deal like FREE FOOD!

Where are your fresh Fruits and Veggies?

Some of you are a bit worried, that I have not taken any photos of food that is “fresh”. I was asked if I only buy what is on sale, and fail to feed my family fresh, products from the store. To answer that question, No I do not buy just want is on sale. I try to stock up on items that are on sale, and will store well.
I tend to buy most of my “need it this week” items at Winco, Costco, or Walmart. Being that over all their prices are lower. BUT no store has the lowest price on every item! These stores do not run sales like Albertsosn, Walgreens, Shopko… Week to week these stores will mark down many items, making those items a great price, and then if you are able to use a coupon on top of that, you will save a lot. I try to buy only the “sale, or mark down” items, and stock up at these stores. I now have a large “food storage” of items I don’t need to buy at normal price. I can wait till they go an sale again, and restock. This cycle allows me to always buy many of my groceries over half off.
Above are the items I bought yesterday at Winco. I like their produce section, I was able to pick up broccoli for .79 cents a pound, cauliflower for .98 cents each. The only items I was able to use a coupon on was the 2 tubs of sour cream, for .40 cents off. I didn’t get any huge discount but still feel like my hard earned money was well spent, at a good price. Total spent $15.38.
