Late night Walgreens Deals

03/20/2009 9:35 pm · 1 comment

Before coupons these would have cost $28.81
I paid $3.20
Plus I got back a $6 Register Reward

I have been waiting for the floss to come in all week.  I went the day their new shipment came in, and they did not get any at the Walgreens closest to my home.  I was disappointed, One of my friends let me know that the other store in town had a end cap full of it.  So tonight after I got the kids in bed I went to look for it.  Sure enough they had a whole end cap full of floss, toothbrushes and mouthwash.  This is a good tip, many times when a store is having a large sale they will have the items on a sale rack or end cap, not in the “normal” spot.  Sometimes I forget to look around for them.  Anyway thanks Eden for the Thrifty tip…….I was so happy to get my FREE floss!
Easter M&Ms 2 for $5
-buy 2 use $1 coupon from easy saver coupon book page 4 ( next to ads in store)
-use $1 off MFR coupon from the 3/1 Red Plum coupon insert
Final cost 2 for $3

Reach floss and Listerine
- buy 3  for $9
- used 2/ $1 off coupons from 2/8 Red Plum on floss
-used  $2 off coupons on Listerine these were from a promo a while back
Pay $5, but then get a $6 register reward, Final cost FREE plus $1 overage
Royal Gelatin
-use in store coupon from ad for 5 for $1
Final price .20 cents each

I also used a $10 diaper Register Rewards to pay from last weeks sale

Free GUM at Walgreens

03/20/2009 9:13 pm · 1 comment

Tonight while I was at Walgreen I noticed they had several boxes of Eclipse and Orbit gum on clearance for .32 cents each, a pretty good price.  But there is a coupon in the Easy Saver catalog (coupon book next to the ads in the store)  that takes .99 cents off of 3 packs of gum.  Use this coupon and the gum will be FREE.  My store was cleared out, so I was not able to get any. But, I thought I would post it anyway so you can look for it at your store.  Good luck, hope you find some free gum!

I have had A LOT of people ask me where I found the Walgreens diaper coupon.  I found this booklet back at the pharmacy at a table with all sorts of ads and papers on it.  They had a whole stack of them.  If you ask the pharmacy there is a good chance they will not know what you are talking about.  SO look at the photo on the left, it should look like this.  Hope you all find it! To find out how to get Walgreens diapers Jumbo pack this week for $2.50 a package, click here.

Earlier this week I did a post on a few Walgreens tips.  In that post I talked about buying in small groups, don’t clear the shelf,  and place an order.  Well this week the gum was on sale for 3 for .99 cents, I wanted to buy 24 of them for a craft project. I had talked to the manager and he said come back in Saturday night, the last night of the sale.  If he still had a bunch in stock he would be happy to sale me a 24.  Being that Sunday morning a new sale would start and they would no longer be a hot item.  Well I was thrilled to find my store not only had gum left but they had just restocked many of the items…. I was so excited! My favorite cashier Patsy, greeted me with a smile and told me she just put out a whole bunch of diapers.   I am not going to list all the details because the sale is over now.
But at normal price these would have cost $169.94
I paid $56.20
Plus I got back $20 in Register Rewards

7 packs of diapers 4 packs of wipes
for $15.75

I knew I would miss out on diaper sale at Walgreens, So I placed an order at the beginning of the week.  My order came in today!  I was able to get 7 packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes, to see the ad match up click here.  On the ad match up you will find the link to print your own coupons, if you missed out on these printalbes.  Here are the details:
Order #1
-3 packs of huggies $10.00 each
-used 3/ 3$ off coupons
Final cost with tax $22.80 ( but then got a $10 register reward for buying $30)
Order #2
-4 packs of wipes $6.00 each
-1 pack of huggies $10.00 each
-used 4 / $5 coupons on wipes
-used 1/ $3 coupon on huggies
Final price with tax $13.04  ( but then got a $10 register reward for buying $30)
Order #3
- 3 packs of huggies for $10 each
- 3 packs of gum for 3 for 99 cents with in store coupon ( I bought the gum as a filler item, I had 3 items and 3 coupons, but I wanted to pay with 3 register rewards which will count as a manufacture coupon.  Walgreens store policy is they only allow one MFR coupon per item.  So I had 3 register rewards I wanted to pay with, so I grabbed 3 packs of gum to bring my item total up to 6 and my coupon total up to 6 also)
-used 3/ $3 coupons
-used 3 register rewards $8, $4,  and $2
Final price $9.91 with tax ( but then got a $10 register reward for buying $30)

So I paid $45.75 out of pocket but I got back $30 in Register Rewards which I can use to buy other items so it is like paying $15.75.  What a Thrifty deal!!!!

Walgreens Thrifty Tips

03/11/2009 8:46 pm · 26 comments

Did you go to Walgreens this week only to find the items you went for are all out of stock?

First off I feel like I need to take a minute and talk about “playing nice” I know we all want to get a great deal. I have been talking to my local Walgreens manager. ( who is SUPER coupon friendly) We have been talking about the best way to provide good service to all shoppers. When one or two people come in and clear the shelf within the first few minutes of a sale, that makes 2 people happy. But hundreds of others come in wanting a good deal disappointed they are out of stock. For example, I knew the diaper sale this week would sell out within the first day. I do not shop on Sunday so I knew I would miss out on this sale. So I just asked to place a diaper order, This way I get what I need and it does not take away from everyone else. This coupon CRAZ has taken off like crazy the last few months, good managers, like at my local store, are trying to do their best to keep the store stocked with the “hot” items. They are happy to see us walk in with coupons in hand!

- I have learned to ask when the new shipments come in, the store will be restocked and most the deals I want are there. If not, I ask for a raincheck. Unfortunately they can’t give rainchecks for Register Rewards. If I miss out, yes I am disappointed but there is always another good deal around the corner.

- I do buy a lot at Walgreens. If it is a good sale week I am there 4-5 times a week. But I never clear the shelf, I buy in small quantities throughout the week. If I go the last day of the sale, late in the day and they still have a lot on the shelf THEN I go ahead and load up. Knowing everyone has had a chance to get in on the sale.

- I have to say that I think my local walgreens is amazing with good customer service, they have always treated me very well. But I know many other stores have staff that might not be as well informed on coupon policy, and tend to give incorrect info. Be kind, a smile goes a long way, if the cashier is having trouble with your coupons, politely ask for a manager. If the manager is still unable to help you, in this case, I would suggest you please call the customer service number at Walgreens 1-800-925-4733. They will then be able to better train there staff better and make it easier for you in the long run.

- I always check out at the Cosmetics counter, it is less busy and does not clog the front of the store with transactions that take longer due to coupons. My local Manager actually asked to please ask couponers to check out at the make up counter, SO keep that in mind! If you have more than one transaction and someone is behind you, think about letting them go before you.

- Last but not least, my Local Walgreens has offered to have me teach an informative class right in the store. I would show you how I shop, which coupons to use, and the coupon policy’s. The Manger will be there to help answer questions and make shopping there a great experience. MY QUESTION for you is, would this be something you would like me to do? Would you want to come? Let me know what you think. For my readers out of state, we are working with Walgreens to do a Podcast in the store with the same info.
