Dinner Cruise on Lake Minnetonka with Green Giant #GreenGiantVV

Each day Matt and I will be spotlighting part of our trip to Minnesota to visit the valley of the Green Giant.  We got into town mid-day and found a taxi for a ride to the hotel.  I still feel weird every time I take a taxi, growing up I had only seen them on TV (there aren’t to many hanging around the family farm lol).  Our taxi driver got off the freeway only to say “oh no” and hit is breaks….. never a good sign.  I looked up to see the overpass bridge we where suppose to take was missing.  We had to back track a bit but finally made it to our hotel.  I was running on less than 3 hours sleep so all I wanted to do was climb into their luxurious  kind size bed and take a little snooze.  But instead I decided to take a quick shower and try to eliminate the lovely “travel bed head” look I was sporting.

That evening we had a dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka, with the Green Giant team and a group of 23 bloggers.

The clouds were looking a little grey when we boarded and it was only a matter of time before we where in the middle of a complete downfall.  The rain was coming down, and the lighting was flashing, we were in the middle of a lake, the storm was getting worse (it was a good thing I had Matt there to protect me).  But the environment inside could not have been warmer.

Speaking of rain, that is one of the reasons the valley is such a great place to grow veggies. Average annual precipitation across the state ranges from around 35 inches.

I ended up spending most the evening talking with Melissa with General Mills.  She is both beautiful and  brilliant a combination that can be a bit intimidating.  Yet she happens to also have one of the the kindest, sweet personality’s I have ever met … and by the end of the night I was ready to ask her to be my new BFF. :)  I also met Jerry with Green Giant who grew up on a farm himself, then went off to college and now works with farmers that grow vegetables for Green Giant.  Jerry even makes several trips to Idaho a year to the Twin Falls and Buhl area.

Day two…. coming soon

It rained so much, and just that night. The rest of the trip was dry and sunny! – Here is a video showing the water falling down the outside of the yacht:

Green Giant paid for our travel, but we were not paid to attend.  All opinions are our own.

Everything sounds nice except being out, on the water, in a storm. I would’ve been huddled under something praying. Glad you had a good time & met some nice people. Can’t wait to hear more!
