I think our Elf, Sam, is the only one who does what the elf on the DVD does. No tricks, no silliness, just flies to the North Pole at night and comes back and picks a new place to hang around for the day. So far it works for us. My son gets excited just looking for him 🙂

Today! Moved the cowboy hats and put flowers everywhere. He is hanging from the elk antlers with a sign that says take time to smell the flowers.
Day 3. He decorated with toilet paper. Left a note that he had to report all the whining he heard the night before and then on the toilet paper it says Christmas is coming, Santa has gifts , 22days, be good do your best.
Day 2. This is our elf laundry string. It snowed so he needed an extra pair of pants.
Twinkle Star! Day 1 the kids had picked up all their toys before bed and he got them all out.
We’ve had ours going about a week but this was from this morning!

Yeahs a brass cannon he was shooting my Christmas Tree…lol…We do Civil War reenacting.
You can see snow flake sitting in a swing of lights on the metal thing hanging on the wall. She wrapped our living room and kitchen with lights to tell us to hurry and decorate!

We have naughty leprechauns that come on St. Patrick’s Day
Yes those are more on what I was thinking . I just think the elf on the shelf is fun but can encourage the naughty side so why not twist it into something positive
Like helping decorate, or clean up the toys, or make hot chocolate for the kids in the morning… yeah we have those ideas too 😉
I’d rather do the good deeds elf not the elf on the shelf that sets a bad example and plants mischief in my kids minds
