Target has Glade Candles Holiday Tins, refills, and scented glass holders  for about $2.50. There are many different ways to make this work, but here is one I think is best.

Buy (5) holiday scented Glade candle tins
Buy (5) holiday scented Glade refills
Use (5) $1.50 off a scented candle tin (found inside the tins themselves)
Use (5) Buy a holder get a free refill blinkie (found in various Grocery stores) or the printable located here
Total: $5 and receive (2) $5 gift cards for buying 10 holiday scented Glade items.
$5 Money Maker!!

Couponing to Disney has work up a couple other ways to do this deal as well. Click here to read hers

I jut tried this and sadly they would let me use the $1.50 off coupons but not the bogo coupons.

What should I have told them?

I tried the deal at my local Target-worked very out well except at first my second $5 card didn’t print because I had picked up a non-holiday scent that was on the shelf. I didn’t know that vanilla isn’t a holiday scent…haha Then I was out of town at a different Target and thought I would get another scent if they had them. They would not take the B1G1 because I was already using the $1.50 coupon. They let me choose which one to use. I should have refused the order, but we had already spent so much time on it and after the $5 gift cards, it really isn’t that bad of a deal. At my local Target and employee said they did have a meeting about coupons and they are just suppose to take them and not spend too much time rejecting them. I like that policy!

I just had a similar experience as Leanna at my Target in Twin Falls, Id. They let me use the B1G1 but wouldn’t let me use the $1.50 off saying that the B1G1 was used for a tin and a refill and using the $1.50 off was doubling manufacture coupons. I also only got one $5 gift card because it was only good from the “holiday” scents and the refills weren’t holiday scents. This deal was a bust for me.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that she even questioned the use of the B1G1 stating that I needed to have matching refills for the particular scent of tin I bought…lucky for me, the manager interceded and allowed it.

I just did this transaction at a southern california Target and it turned out badly. I should have politely canceled the transaction when the first thing out of the cashier’s mouth when she saw me taking the coupons out of the tin was, ” You don’t technically own those yet, so you cannot use those coupons for these items.” Then she said she would do me a favor and take them this time. Next, she said I could not use the B1G1 coupons since that was doubling up. After the manager came over, I elected to take off the $1.50 coupons she graciously allowed me to first use and instead use the B1G1. To top it all off, I only received one $5 giftcard even though I had 10 Glade items….her response was, “If we allowed it, then we would be paying you to take these.” Before I got in line, I tried the cashier profiling, but I should have known better since I saw the Target mascot stuffed dog on top of her register. (In her case, this meant that she had sold a bunch of extra stuff to customers and had earned it.) This is not the first time I have gotten my hopes up and then been crushed at the Target in Redlands, Ca. So my lessons learned have been: trust your gut, don’t use coupons with cashiers who want to promote, and lastly, stop shopping at this particular Target.

I haven’t been able to find these coupons on any of the tins at my Target. I was beginning to doubt the existence of these tins. I also could not find a display of these candles anywhere other than the aisle they are usually on.

Mike, don’t forget you can donate things you buy but don’t use!!!

I love this deal! Only problem is that someone who shops at the Target near me has taken all the coupons OUT OF THE CANDLE PACKAGES already :-(

Luckily I have a couple of those coupons from the Candle Tins I had purchased in the past.

Just a nice note to everyone…don’t take the coupons out of the tins unless you plan to buy that tin ;-) Lets play nice together and share :-)

I have a dumb question. Still learning all this.

Is there a way to print off more than 2 of these things? I know it hits your IP address but is there a way to print more than 2? I know some times you can go back in a few days and it will let you but signing up with 10 different email addresses makes no difference because it sees the IP.

Any work around on this?

Also just a general point of discussion, how many weekend papers do most folks buy at a time?

Thanks all! I really have been enjoying reading this blog every day and am getting into it but you have to watch out as you have to remember, there is often only so much of this stuff at times you need!

I have never taken a zanac or zantac or whatever they are in my life and now I have 2 full boxes of them and they will no doubt just expire! hehe Have to remember you still only need what you are going to use! You might have to move some day and then you will need a house hold movers truck just to bring along your pantry and medicine cabinet!

Wouldn’t this transaction also qualify for the SC Johnson $5 rebate that you can submit three time per household?

Nikki October 21, 2009 at 12:28 am

I did this deal today as you have listed and it worked like a charm. Don’t forget that it also qualifies for the SC Johnson rebate, when you buy 3 Glade (or 3 of a bunch of other products) you get back $5.

Rosie T October 20, 2009 at 11:00 pm

you can also submit that scenario for 3 $5 SC Johnsons rebates, which include all glade products.
