Incredibles Muddy Buddies

Incredibles Muddy Buddies

Incredibles Muddy Buddies are the perfect snack to make when you are going to watch the new Incredibles movie. Have you seen it?

Incredibles Muddy Buddies

I was so excited to see Incredibles 2. My kids loved the first one. My son was just a baby the year it came out and went as little Jack Jack for Halloween. He was adorable.

When the 2nd movie came out I knew it was one I wanted to see in the theater. My kids were so excited to go too. But it got even better. We got to see it at the local drive in movie. Do you have one of those where you live? (I googled it and there are only 348 left in the USA and I am lucky enough to have one just a couple of miles down the road!) Since it was at the drive in I was able to bring my own snacks and had a fun idea for special muddy buddies.

Muddy buddies or puppy chow (which do you call them?) are so yummy and a family favorite snack that I don’t make very often. I wanted these to be red, which they aren’t very because the peanut butter really calmed down the color. But they were still fun. I grabbed sprinkles in red black and yellow to make it even more “Incredible”.

Recipe:

12 cups of Chex cereal (I used half corn and half rice)

2 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

1 stick butter melted

1/2 cup peanut butter

11/2 cups powdered sugar

Red, black and yellow or orange sprinkles

Red gel food coloring

Measure your cereal in a large bowl and set aside. In a microwave safe bowl melt stick of butter and white chocolate chips. Melt for 30 second increments stirring in between until fully melted. Add peanut butter and stir well together. Add desired amount of red gel food coloring and stir. Poor mixture into bowl with Chex and stir gently. (I like to use a silicone spatula for this step since it mixes more gently than a wooden spoon would.) Once mixed together add powdered sugar. I added it straight to the bowl and stirred. You can add to a gallon baggie and shake to cover too. Poor in your sprinkles and give it a shake or stir.

I got my sprinkles at Michael’s. They have tons of colors. If you don’t have a store like Michael’s near by, I included a link to some on Amazon so you could find them. The same with the red gel food coloring. I prefer gel because it doesn’t water down the mixture or change the consistency of the mixture like traditional food coloring might. It also gives more vibrant colors.

If you want to get the movie you can find it here. (Right now that is just a preorder)
