What is on a the menu at our house?

I get an email at least once a week asking me what I feed my family. Most of them are  just wanting to learn how to cross over from the habit of shopping daily for that days menu plan.  While others are convinced we eat  nothing but processed food.  They see the photos of what I buy that week and can not seem to wrap their brain around the idea of cooking from that weeks promo items and your stockpile.

Some of you “type A” personality’s  are much more organized than me, and I am sure there is a rotation chart or something fancy that would make menu planning easier.  But I do what works for me, I plan my meals around the fresh promo items that I get that week.  As well as what I get in my Bountiful Basket that week.  I then use my food storage or stockpile items, as well as freezer items to plan my meals.

Being that I do not write my menu out a week in advance  I am sharing last weeks menu with you!  Hope it helps you understand that eating from your stockpile can be made a way of life,  is both rewarding and thrifty!

Hello. Your site is great. I don't want to put my myself into the catagory that thinks your family eats nothing but processed foods, but bags of tortilla and sun chips, jars of processed queso, processed white bread, soda and fuse drinks do give that impression...though your meal plan looks awsome and I've never cooked a whole artichoke! Over the past few years we have moved away from processed foods and are even trying to get away from wheat products, white rice, and sugar in general...this has been a challenge (especially for my 9 and 11 year olds) and it's hard to find coupons for the outer sections of the grocery store...even harder for organic. I checked out bountiful basket, buy they don't serve Illinois...but I'm going to see if I can find something like them.

I am amazed at what you fix. I cook almost every night (by Friday I am ready to let Dad bring home a papa murphys pizza... I babysit all week and mentally I am ready to check out) I tried your crepes once and they were awesome. They are a lot of time consuming work tho! I haven't ventured to make them since but I sure enjoyed them! with our family of 4 we were eating crepes for days... great recipe! thanks for sharing the possibilities! kari

You mean you don't cook tons and tons of boxes of pasta, candy bars, mac n cheese, and cold cereal day after day? LOL It's amazing how some people think us couponers just eat junk food. Totally the opposite, huh ladies? We save so much money each month that buying fruits and veggies is not a dent in your grocery bill at all! Look your posts and photos of the meals.

Seriously hungry now. What's your recipe for Apple Sage Sauce with Pork chops? I do an apple cider bacon wrapped pork chop that is so yummy. Always looking for something different to cook.
