Once again it goes to show how buying multiple coupons and stocking up on items at their lowest price point can really help you save.  To  learn more about the A Thrifty Mom with the Idaho Press Tribune deal click here with the Press Tribune….you will be able to get multiple Sunday papers or the Thrifty Mom deal with the Idaho Statesman here.

You can use 3 twice the value (double coupons) per family per shopping trip.  They will double any coupon up to the value of $1.00 making that coupon twice its value.  SO if you use a .75 cent coupon it will double up to $1.50 or if you use a $1.00 coupon it will double to $2.00.  They will not double a coupon for $1.01 or more. They will not double a coupon that says do not double, or not subject to doubling.

I am confused about something. You said that you used double coupons. Do you mean that you used Albertson’s double your coupon coupons? Cuz the double coupons I have seen in our ads over here in WA only last for a few days, so how do you have them right now? I haven’t even gotten this week’s Albertsons’ ads yet.

Sara this was LAST weeks budget review

Thanks Sarah…I actually DID call my store and talked to a manager- who called corporate to get a specific answer about that. I don’t know if it was specific to my store or a corporate answer for all stores, but I thought I’d pass along what they communicated to me- just in case…

If the store is not busy, you may do 3 transactions with double coupons in a row (3 double coupons per transaction). If the store is busy, you may be asked to go around to the back of the line. And you may do up to 9 transactions per day.

So, for whatever it’s worth, that’s the answer I got. I was happy with that!

Thank you for the hint on which store has the yogurt. I’m in Nampa and have tried three stores in my area and never seem to be successful. Do you tell them about it everytime?

A Thrifty Mom April 14, 2010 at 6:57 pm

Terrilynn, I try to let them know about items that match up with coupons, that way they know to order a ton in advance. Of course I do not get all the deals in time but yes I am able help most weeks

What do you do with the yogurt? Is it dated out far enough that your family will eat it all in time, or do you freeze it?

A Thrifty Mom April 13, 2010 at 5:10 pm

we eat it.. the 3 kids that are old enough eat alot, along with us…

Has anyone else noticed that their Albertson’s has stopped putting extra copies of the double coupons out? Mine used to have a whole stack of them at customer service, but the past couple of times there have been doublers they’ve had none.

Do you freeze your yogurt?

Thats awesome!! Do you ever get mean looks from the cashier when you save this amount of $$? I just got back from WalMart and used lots of coupons and the cashier was just nasty..:(

You always amaze me with your thrifty shopping trips…and I see that little hand in the bottom of the picture going for the candy bar! :)

Hi Sarah- I have been reading your blog for several months and have been couponing for several months as well but I have never commented before. =) I just had a quick question…I’ve had people bring in to question the idea of using the double coupons several times in one day when the words say, one per family per shopping trip. I personally don’t have any ethical issues with doing it and sort of consider the words “shopping trip” to mean “transaction”…but I wondered what your answer would be. I’ve never had “my” albertsons make any big deal about it, so I figure it’s fine…but what do you think?

A Thrifty Mom April 13, 2010 at 5:37 pm

Kristi….each store takes this wording a little different some take it as one per day others are fine with you using all you have. I suggest you ask your store what their policy is, and stick to that.

Terrilynn Houdek April 13, 2010 at 10:10 am

Ever since I have started doing this couponing (last October) I have tried to get some Dananino or Danimals when they are really cheap. All I want is two or three packages and they are ALWAYS out. I have only managed to be successful once. It doesn’t matter which Albertsons I go to or what time of day. It makes me a little upset!!!

A Thrifty Mom April 13, 2010 at 5:39 pm

Terrrilynn…. I am not sure if you are local or not. But I told the Caldwell stadium store about the coupon last week so they ordered in tons….I went late Monday and they still have tons both on the shelf and in the back. After 2 days to crazy doubles they still have tons….hope this helps.

Check the carts of Easter Candy for 75% off Hershey’s kisses. They were only $.94 last night. I used the $1/3 mq, doubled it, and paid only $1 for 3 bags. Buy an extra bag @ full price & submit for the Fandango movie ticket. Now that’s what I call a cheap date!
