My Thrifty Walmart deal

001I was finally able to find these little soy candles in stock at my local Walmart.  They were $2.97 each but with the coupon from the 8/9 smart source they were FREE all I had to pay was tax.  So before coupons my total was $26.73 all I had to pay was $1.61.  I think that is a rather thrifty deal!  I do not burn many candles but I plan to decorate them and turn them into little gifts.

I also work hard at couponing and like to use all the coupons I have:) I just found my free candles and the chinet paper plates for 50 cents a piece at the associated food store and I took four of each:) YEA!!!!

I agree.. The whole point in doing this is to make sure that you get to use all the coupons you get! And if I had 9 I would do the same thing =]!!!

Thank you Bonny and Nicole for your awesome comments, I was thinking the same thing! First come, first serve, get up and get going early. We don’t always get all the great deals. How does anyone know how many were left when Thrifty mom bought 9 AND as mentioned she did wait awhile to get them so others had their chance. Thanks Thrifty mom for the awesome deals, now if only I could find these candles in Cali???

Can you show us how you decorated them when you do. You have a very creative mind. I always learn something from your website. Thanks

What ideas do you have in mind for decorating them? I, too, will give them as gifts but would like to make them cuter.

Not sure where to send this to, but the Nampa, Target has Dry Idea deodorant on clearance for 1.92 each and with the $2 off coupons that were either IP’s or in the inserts last month they were free. They had about 20 on the endcap.

they also have them at the Nampa Albertsons on 7th and 12th.

please, keep in mind people she did wait a while to buy these after the coupon came out and if all these candles were still there went she went to buy them good for her. I found them all over the place in my area and also but 10. I dont feel bad at all,I work very had at couponing. I have been to kmart 6 times this week and there are still tons of items left.

those candle coupons don’t expire until October so there is plenty of time for everyone to get them. Besides if Thrifty Mom wants to get 9 of them all at once so be it. After all she is the one who supplies us all the info to get great deals on her FREE website!

Walmart on Franklin in Nampa had about 25 candles in stock tonight…2 different scents.

Keep up the good work, A Thrifty Mom! You inspire us!

I have a pretty good stockpile and I only buy one or two items at a time. I can’t say I wouldn’t take 9 free candles at one time though, if I ever had that many coupons at once!

I just found mine @ Kmart yesterday. I thought they would make great Christmas gifts with a tag about being the light of the world. That’s 7 gifts taken care of.

I used to feel bad about taking more than one or two of something I had a great coupon for, but the more I’ve couponed, the less guilt I’ve felt. I’ve gone to the store countless times to by something and it was out of stock. If I wake up early and happen to be one of the first people to get a great deal, then I stock up. I also special order many items to make sure I get them. Couponing is hard work. No one ever said any different. There are going to be many times when things are out of stock, but you have to just let it go and appreciate that someone got a great deal. I know you work hard to get your deals Thrifty Mom, so I hope people will drop the judgmental attitude and go to work. The major premise of couponing is to stockpile. You can’t do that if you only buy one or two items. I’d like to know the difference between stockpiling and hoarding. It seems like a pretty thin line between the two.
Thank you for listening to my rant.

Love these! K-Mart was out of them today so need to check Wal-Mart. K-Mart did have the 2oz Free ones that I have been looking for but they were sold out too!

Jeannie August 21, 2009 at 7:49 pm

I too, would love to use my ‘one’ free candle coupon but they are always out of stock when I look for them. Perhaps it is because people take too many of them without leaving any (or very few) for others (see above picture). Please, fellow couponers, keep this in mind when using multiple coupons.

so i was wondering do you have 9 coupons or does the one coupons allow you to buy them all and get the same discount? I appreciate the help

A Thrifty Mom August 21, 2009 at 9:06 pm

I had 9 coupons….so I was able to get 9 for free
