Recipe- How to make your own Poppy Seed dressing

Have you ever made your own salad dressing, it is rather simple and normally you will have most the ingredients right in your pantry.  There are 1,000’s of recipes or variations but here is one my family likes to eat with spinach salad.

Poppy Seed Dressing:

1 1/2 cup olive oil

  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds

Add all ingredients to a blender ( I normally hold the poppy seed till the end) put the lid on and blend on medium.  Normally only takes about 30 seconds till it turns to a creamy blend.   Add the poppy seeds, mix and you are done!

I just put it into an empty salad dressing bottle, will make 8 oz perfect!

We like to eat it over a Spinach salad.

Spinach Cranberry Feta and Almond salad

  • 1 large head of iceberg lettuce (use two if they are small) chopped
  • 1 6oz bag of baby spinach chopped
  • 1 cup dry cranberries
  • 1/4 cup red onions
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese
  • 1/2 cup glazed almond slices

Makes a large bowl… enough to feed 10 people at least.
