Shaving Cream Painted Easter Eggs ~ Easy Art Project for Kids

Matts Mom came to visit this weekend, and she always brings a fun bag of projects to do with my kids.  Yesterdays she told me they were going to make Shaving Cream Art… I could not wrap my head around the project at first.  But it turned out really pretty and my girls loved every second of it.

Supplies needed

  • Shaving Cream
  • Acrylic paint ( from the craft store)
  • Card stock or other stiff paper cut into an egg shape
  • Window squeegee
  • Shallow pan or plate to put the the shaving cream on
  • Paper towels or wet rag to clean the squeegee after each paper

Start by spraying a layer of shaving cream in the bottom of a shallow pan or plate.  Then squirt or drip the paint on top of the shaving cream, place a piece of paper on top and gently rub it to make sure it makes contact with the whole surface.

Slowly pull it up, it will look like a smeared mess…. but then use a window squeegee to take the shaving cream off.  Underneath you will find a brightly colored fun painted egg.

This project can be a little messy so make sure you wear your painting clothes!  Have fun !

This is such a fun and easy project for all ages. I can’t wait to try with my daughter and the little family members that visit on the weekends. Thanks for the idea!

Is it dry right away when you scrape the shaving cream off? Can you write stuff on it right away?

You are so uber talented… I have no idea how you just pulled that out of your head. I would have had to get Google involved, and then it would have taken 45 minutes to try to cut it out.

This is your failed “coral reef”? Clearly I don’t understand the meaning of the word…

I teach 2nd grade…hard to get art in but I try to make it happen!

If you guys want more crafts and fun stuff to do you can look up Kid Concoctions on YouTube. Or you can look for Kid Concoctions books. Me and my dad are going to look for some of those books at Barnes and Noble, we have been getting into crafts. They have fun crafts to do if you guys want to check it out.

I found a Squatty Potty at the thrift store for $1.50. Now I am going to clean it.

Someone said they use glue as well w the shaving cream and paint. What does the glue do???

  10. Reinkers, food coloring, cake decorating gel, paint…they all work. Hmmm….I wonder if nail polish would work?

Hey I have a question. Will you ever start up painting again? I miss it.

  12. I’ve done this craft to make my own cardstock backgrounds, for rubber stamped cards. Love using the shaving cream with stamp pad reinkers.

What are you using to move the color around in the shaving cream?
