Before sale price or coupons this would have cost $39.84

I was able to get it for .36 cents

Thanks to my reader Helen last week who let me know about the great deal on Skippy Natural, I went today and did the deal listed below but with double coupons they turn out to be FREE all I had to pay was .18 cents tax. on 6 jars.  Make sure you bring your ad with you to the store so you can use the  instore coupon so you can get it for the .99 cent price.

skippy

At Albertsons the Skippy Natural (brown lid) peanut butters are a great deal. For each 2 you buy, a $1 catalina will print out . Also when they scan 2 , a coupon for $1/2 Skippy Natural peanut butter prints. That meant that 2nd set of 6 with coupon from front of ad makes $6 – $3 catalinas and $1 mfg coupon catalina makes $2 plus tax for 6 jars.

Thanks to Helen for this Thrifty deal!

Readers update*** I just did this at O/5. Sweet deal!!!They were prepared for this and have 50 cases

Is there a way to know how long the catalina will work on the Naturals?

A Thrifty Mom July 14, 2009 at 9:30 am

No thats a part of their marketing idea. If you don’t know when it ends then they think you will contiune to come in to the store.

Evelyn July 13, 2009 at 10:02 pm

So how do you find out about these catalinas before hand? Whenever I read about an item with coupons printing out and catalinas popping up, it’s after the sale is over. Not complaining or anything, just trying to figure it all out! Is there a site you go to that tells you in advance?

A Thrifty Mom July 13, 2009 at 10:08 pm

Evelyn…..at this time there is not an official way to find the catalina offers….it really is all about word of mouth. The only way I know about them is when you get a little print out at the register telling you one is coming up. Or if one of my readers tells me about it. I have talked to both the stores and the catalina company’s but both of them say they can’t list them????

Jennifer Litzenberger July 13, 2009 at 9:18 pm

I don’t think “twice the value” is technically the same as “doubling” a coupon. Just to be sure, I look on-line for coupons for the same item and have found some website will let you print the same coupon without it saying “do not double”.

Mellissa July 7, 2009 at 4:29 pm

The cashier at my Albertson’s in Nampa said the Catalina’s for the PB cannot be doubled because they say not subject to doubling she said that any Albertson’s doubling these could possibly be in a lot of trouble.

A Thrifty Mom July 7, 2009 at 4:31 pm

I just wanted to let you all know that even I make mistakes some times….I did not see that the catalina said do not double on it. I try hard to read all the fine print but I was in a hurry and this one passed buy me……even without a double this is a great deal

Krista July 7, 2009 at 1:31 pm

The older Caldwell Albertsons (not the stadium store) is not letting people double Catalinas or the Skippy coupon that prints out….they said they will not double coupons any longer that say do not double and most of the catalinas I have seen say that. Just a heads up for this store.

DeniseL July 7, 2009 at 11:58 am

Where do I find the original coupon for the peanut butter making it the 99 cents price? Or is it just on special for 99 cents? Any help is appreciated.

Bobbi July 7, 2009 at 10:35 am

Just got off the phone with catalina guy. It will take 6-8 weeks for the $1/2 manufacturer’s coupon to be mailed. He said that not all of the upc’s for the Natural Skippy Peanutbutter had been input. They corrected it today so the correct catalina’s should be printing out. Also, he said that there should be only 1 catalina per transaction. Rather–1 for the $1/2 and then the $1.00 when you buy two is directly related to how many you buy. So multiple transactions is the only way to get this free according to the catalina guy.

Karli S July 7, 2009 at 8:53 am

Update: There was a catalina computer error at my Albertsons which is why nothing printed. I called the catalina company and the catalinas are in mail! Thank you all for your help.

annette July 6, 2009 at 11:31 pm

I have never used a coupon before in my life, and I have been shown the error of my ways. I have reading your blog (and others) trying to figure this all out. My first coupon venture is going to be tomorrow with the peanut butter mentioned above. Just so I know what I am doing, can we break it down again? Do I have to buy (scan and pay for) 2 jars at a time to get the coupons to print? Do I end up with 6 jars or 12 jars of peanut butter? I don’t want to look like I have no clue what I am doing (even though I don’t!) when I check out.
Thanks!!

A Thrifty Mom July 7, 2009 at 8:21 am

Annette you will buy 2 at a time up to 6….( they have a limit of 6 at a time) I did this twice so that is how I got 12 jars. Hope that helps

Lindy July 6, 2009 at 11:16 pm

I was just at the stadium Albertsons to get PB. They were out of the natural. However when I was leaving I did see and Albertson truck pulling away in back. So I am assuming they got a shipment. Maybe they will have more tomorrow morning?

Jessica July 6, 2009 at 11:04 pm

Here in Utah, I got the catalina to print, but no coupon. I bought 6, two per transaction. Still a great deal though as I rolled the catalina!

Amber July 6, 2009 at 6:42 pm

I just got home from the store -ustick and five mile Albie- and when I bought two at a time both the catalina and $1 off 2 coupon printed. I did several transactions and it worked every time. I doubled the coupon that printed and it was an amazing deal. Thank you SOOOO much for the heads up this is my favorite peanut butter!

Heather L July 6, 2009 at 5:15 pm

Oh my goodness, I am so excited! In two transactions I purchased 12 small jars of natural p.b., 15 packages of tuna, 4 boxes of mac n cheese (using a b3g1 coupon), 2 bottles of dressing, and 2 bottles of nesquick milk. After coupons, catalinas, double coupons etc. I only paid about 13.00 and that worked out to $0.37/item! a 78% savings. wow wow wow :)

Helen in Meridian July 6, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Sarah, does this mean we can use a doubler on our $1 catalinas that have been printing? I don’t quite understand, but I am glad you all liked my post for cheap peanut butter.

A Thrifty Mom July 6, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Helen yes my store said that a catalina says manufacturer coupon on it so they will double it…the cashier told me about it last week and I was pretty excited.

Denene July 6, 2009 at 5:05 pm

I just got off the phone with catalina asking why the $1/2 skippy coupon isn’t printing and the lady told me that it shows that mine printed and it didn’t. Anyway, she will send them anyway. Most likely not in time but better than not at all.

Shanna July 6, 2009 at 4:14 pm

I went to two Albies here in Utah today and bought 6 Naturals at each. The cats printed out fine but no coupon.

Heather July 6, 2009 at 4:13 pm

I was sooo excited about this deal, but sooo bummed when I went to my Albertsons & they were unloading TONS of the creamy & chunky kinds for this sale……..Natural was nowhere to be found- Dang!!

Melody Hansen July 6, 2009 at 3:55 pm

I found two of the Naturals, both completely hidden and mostly in the wrong place. But happy to have two. :)

Greg July 6, 2009 at 3:40 pm

No coupon for $1/2 maybe the key is to ONLY buy them 2 at a time?

They won’t double the albertsons coupon (says so on it)… but I’ve been just happy with buying 6 at a time for $6.. less the three $1 catalinas equals $.50 each… not to shabby…

A Thrifty Mom July 6, 2009 at 4:02 pm

Greg …I was able to double the catalina coupon….not the store coupon…hope that helps

Jeanette in WA July 4, 2009 at 12:29 am

I did this deal a few days ago and again today. A few days ago the $1/2 mq printed but it didn’t today. Perhaps they’ve pulled this coupon. The catalina does still print, though, so call the company and get yours sent to you.

Karli S July 3, 2009 at 10:19 pm

Yes, all natural… some creamy and some extra chunky. Brown lids (the size that is $.99 on sale?)

A Thrifty Mom July 3, 2009 at 10:47 pm

Karli….hmmmm I am not sure … you can call the catalina company 1-888-8coupon have your receipt and they can help you to figure out why it did not print?

Karli S July 3, 2009 at 8:31 pm

I just tried this and it didn’t work :( No catalinas or coupons! Is there a difference between stores in Canyon County and stores in Ada County?

Should I have spoken with a manager?

Thanks!

A Thrifty Mom July 3, 2009 at 8:54 pm

Karlie so it would work in all areas….did you do the natural…it is the only one that is working

lindsey July 3, 2009 at 8:25 pm

I found one Natural Jar at the caldwell albertsons it was hiding. Other then that.. they are gone there. They still have lots of the other kinds though.

Sarah K. July 3, 2009 at 7:55 pm

I also did not get the coupon, just the catalina, but I’m in WA.

Linda July 3, 2009 at 7:46 pm

I just did this deal at the old Albertson’s in Caldwell (NOT the stadium albies) and did get the catalinas but not the coupon.

April July 3, 2009 at 4:46 pm

whats 0/5? thanks! April

Valarie July 3, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I bought 6 creamy with coupon (from in store coupon) and I received 1/$1 catalina. Should I have received more catalinas? This was at the stadium Albies.

Tiffany Chandler July 3, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I just did this and I did not get the Coupon!!! I got the Catalina but not the coupon!!! I was at the Albies on 12th and 7th in Nampa.

lora July 3, 2009 at 2:22 pm
