Thrifty Recipe- Ham Rolls

Still have left over ham? Here is another way to use it. In the photo I used thin deli sliced ham. But you could do it with thicker cooked ham as well.
IMG_1039You will need:

  • Sliced ham ( I use deli meat)
  • Box of stuffing mix
  • Swiss or Mozzerella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Apricot or Peach Jam
  • 1/4 cup water

I have been a bit under the weather, the last week so Matt picked up some ham, for easy lunches.  I am kind of weird when it comes to lunch meat, I will only serve it on a cold sandwich the first few days the package is open.  Then after that I will only use in cooked….This is one of my favorite ways to use it.

IMG_1007First cook your boxed stuffing mix per the box instructions.

Take one or two slices of ham, add a row of stuffing and a slice of cheese.

IMG_1009Roll up, try to keep it tight so the stuffing does not fall out.

IMG_1010Line up in a buttered pan.

Once you have the pan full of  ham rolls, spread about 1/2 cup peach or apricot jelly or jam, on top (thinned down with 1/4 cup water) .  As it cooks it will create a glaze on the ham.  These will already be warm due to the Stuffing being hot. But cover with foil and cook on 350 degrees for 25-30 mins.  Till cheese it melted and sides start to bubble.

IMG_1036We eat these on top of white rice.  To be honest I was not sure I would like this the first time I heard about this recipe.  But now it is one of my family’s favorites.  Hope you enjoy it too.

Made this for dinner last night~was so excited that someone else had done all the thinking :)~ they were really good. I didn't have mozzarella nor swiss but I did have Pepperjack sticks that I had picked up at Albertsons for cheap when they re-set the cheese. It was so yummy that my husband said it was a 'keeper' recipe. Thank you for your help.

These ham rolls look amazing, however my husband will not eat things with sweet glazes. I have made something similar roast beef or turkey slices.Just substiute mashed potatoes instead of stuffing and I had mixed vegies to mashed potatoes roll up and spread either beef gravy or turkey gravy over top. You've got yourself a meal

I think my hubby will really like these, I'm with ya on the deli meat - if my kids don't eat it with in a couple days I usually throw it out (so I stopped buying it). My husband used to take mozarella sticks and roll them up in ham and microwave - so, this is perfect for him! Great idea!

I have to be honest and say the part of that whole meal that looks just delicious to me is the white rice with the butter on it!!! :) I'm pregnant and plain buttery stuff just sounds so delicious!! :) The rolls are a great idea though!

Does it matter what cheese you use? It looks like you have the mozarella sticks maybe on this recipe? Or maybe it is moz. rolled up; just wondering if one tastes/melts better than the other, thanks.
