Washi Covered Cookie Cutter Ornament

This cute, little ornament is perfect for a simple Christmas season!  Not only does it make a thrifty ornament for your own tree, but also is a great, thrifty gift for teachers, friends, etc.  Make several and have them on hand when you need a last minute little something to give!

You will need

Washi tape

Metal ornament

hook, twine, ribbon, or something else to hang ornament with

The possibilities with this are pretty much endless with the amount of choices out there for washi tape designs as well as the amount of shapes you can find cookie cutters in.  Its a little overwhelming to narrow the choices down!  I went with a snowman design because I have a weakness for anything snowman this time of year!  I had this cute, non Christmas washi tape on hand, and it matches my colors so I went ahead and used it instead of an traditional Christmas design.  Also, it is a little thicker than my Christmas tapes, so I was able to completely cover the edge of the ornament.

Once you have your cookie cutter and tape picked out, simply start on a side and press down the washi tape as you make your way around the ornament.  Be sure to press firmly to make sure there are no bubbles and that the tape is sticking all the way.

Once you have gone all the way around the ornament be sure to cut your tape with scissors to leave a clean cut line as opposed to a jagged, ripped line.

Now you are ready to hang the ornament.  I used bakers twine, I love the looks of it.  Cut a long enough section that you can tie it off and still have enough to get over the branches.  Tie, hang and enjoy!  What a fun, easy craft!  This would also be something great to let the kids help make.  My kids love when they get to craft with me and this is relatively easy to do!
