Bag of Rice Project #109 -A visit to the Etimbuk family #bagofriceproject

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Etimbuk family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Rebecca Pisarek and Abigail Campbell this is the 109th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. The Etimbuk family was introduced to us by their village chief who also followed us to help us translate. The Etimbuk live in a two bedroom clay house with palm fonds to cover their roof and they also constructed their own outhouse made of clay outside the house. We actually met Mrs Etimbuk on the way to their home and I took a beautiful photo of her and her kid returning to the house with us.

When we came to the house we met Mr Etimbuk who is blind but he was all smiles and happy to see us. They have 3 children and Mrs Etimbuk and her children farm and help out in the Palm oil mill whenever they can so they can get some free oil. We took pictures of their kitchen as well. Which was in a mud structure too and they use firewood to cook their meals.

This special family was a delight to meet and even though I had to talk to them using an interpreter, I could see the smiles on their faces as they understood my words. Mr Etimbuk has been sick for a while and even with his sickness insisted on standing up for the family photo. They were so grateful for the bag of Rice and were also grateful for those who donated it to them. This family has been in need of answers to some of their prayers and I’m glad today we were able to answer one of it.
