. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Johnson family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Beth Phillips and Linda Honsvick this is the 289th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

Meet Mrs. Nne Johnson, a 50 year old mother of 4, she has been into farming for more than a decade with little to show for it. She is now a single mom after some irreconcilable differences with her ex husband who was the bread winner of the family. Things have gone worse since she was left alone to cater for the well-being of all the Children, a condition which has left them eating their produce which were supposed to be sold in exchange for cash. She fears her kids could drop out from school because of these seeming harsh economic conditions which have affected the regularity of their meals and now income for anything else.

Mrs Johnson cooks in a semi open kitchen with firewood and a metal tripod to support her pot. This is the most affordable means of cooking in Nigeria and most villagers prefer this method as the firewood is easily accessible. Mrs Johnson is a farmer and she grows Cassava and Yam in a little farm behind her home. It has not been an easy experience taking care of her kids but she says God has been helping them out in every step of the way.

She was full of gratitude when we presented a bag of rice to her family, according to her, “a bag of rice is one of the things I least expected to receive from total strangers, today”. She was very very happy and told us that she has been praying for a miracle to lighten their burdens. She was very thankful to those who donated to her family and prayed for their continued success and heavens blessings.
