Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Udeh family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS, and this is the 508th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
The Udoh family was recommended to us by a friend. The Udoh family lives in Effoi village in Akwa Ibom State the southern part of Nigeria. When we got to the house no one was outside so we knocked and they came out. The family gave us a warm welcome, we told them our mission in their compound and they were unable to hold their joy, they danced and praised God for sending someone to help them in this hard time. The family has 5 beautiful kids and they live in a beautiful mud house that has been damaged by heavy rain. They lack power supply and there is no borehole water for them, they go to the stream to fetch water, and the water is not treated.
The Udoh family cooks at the back of their house and they make use of firewood which is the cheapest fuel they can afford considering the health effect firewood has. They are left with no choice but to use it because they can’t afford cooking gas which will be easy for them to cook. Mrs. Grace Udoh has a small shop and she sells groceries in the shop she uses this to take care of the children. When we asked her about the husband, she said the man ran away and abandoned the five children. She and her sisters stay in the house.
The family appreciated the donor and prayed that as the donor has touched their life positively God will continue to touch the donor’s life positively. They prayed God will protect, guide and provide for the donor. As we left the compound the family was filled with joy.
