Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Isaac family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Cat Neiheisel – In honor of all our employees at Neiheisel Steel Corporation. This is the 59th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
This family was recommended to us by their church leader. Mr Isaac is a blind, albino man who has been blind for all of his adult years. He lives in his family’s house and is not married. Since he is blind he finds it difficult to move around and rarely comes out during the day because of his skin condition. He has excellent memory and recognized the voice of our guide and called out his name despite not having seen him in a long time.
Mr Isaac was an interesting person to talk to and we spent sometime just listening to him and hearing him speak. He appreciated the visit and the bag of Rice given to him and told us that he will pray for us and for those who made the donations. His family also appreciated the donation and said they have never had anybody visit them and that the bag of Rice was highly needed and will help the family to take care of him better. We left their house knowing that the family was grateful and that our visit will surely impact their lives.
