Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Ruben family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS, and this is the 603rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Ruben family in Mbiaso. When we got to the compound we saw them outside and they gave us a receptive welcome. The family was shocked to see us, they said they have not seen this face before in the community, we told her we do not stay here. We told her we have something for her, she was surprised and asked what we brought for her, we said someone donated a bag of rice to her. She was shocked and she went on hugging every member of the team. She was so excited and happy, she did not believe her eyes and asked in her local dialect if all is for her and we said yes. She asked us who was the politician who sent us to donate a bag of rice to her, we told her we were not sent by any politician, she was surprised someone she did not know would give her a bag of rice without asking for anything in return. She was so happy, the Ruben family lives in a one room apartment which is made of mud. This kind of house was used in the 1800s, because of lack of money they are unable to build a house with blocks. The house is on the verge of collapsing because of how long the house has stood. The house lacks basic amenities, they do not have a proper kitchen, bathroom and also the house lacks electricity. The Ruben family is blessed with 5 kids but when we visited they were not all around. 
The Ruben family do not have a proper kitchen, they cook with firewood because of how high the price of cooking gas is. It is not medically recommended to cook with a firewood but the family is left with no choice than to use it, when we visited we did not meet Mr. Ruben in the house they told us he went out. He is a farmer. The wife said she is not doing anything because of how bad her health is. She only supports her husband sometimes on the farm, she said she has been ill for a while and that stopped her from working.
Mrs Ruben was ecstatic to receive a bag of rice. When she confirmed that it was hers, she was so happy and gave everybody full hugs. I’ve not seen anybody that happy with a gift in a long while. It made me so happy. She offered prayers of gratitude for the donor’s kindness, thanking them for their generous gift of a bag of rice. She prayed that God would meet all their needs from his abundant riches, ensuring their home never lacks provision. She asked for strength to continue doing good and for blessings to overflow in their spiritual, financial, and emotional lives. They prayed for the donor to receive multiplied blessings, with peace, joy, and divine favor accompanying them always. Their prayers continued as we left their compound.
