I was excited when BloomsyBox asked me if I would like to do a review on their subscription flower service. This is a sponsored post but all opinions and views are my own.
Before I talk about the flowers that BloomsyBox sent me let me first tell you a few reasons why I liked the idea of this company and wanted to try them out. This is a rather low cost way to ship fresh flowers to someone or yourself starting as low as $34.99. They have different options for your subscriptions, no long term contracts or commitment. They have month-to month, 3 month prepay, 6 month prepay and 12 month prepay options. You can always gift a subscription to someone else and change the delivery address as many times as you want to. Perfect way to send flowers to friends and family!

Sounds pretty awesome, right…. now let me tell you about the flowers them sent me.
The flowers they ship are cut 2-4 days right from the farm before they ship them to you. No mixed bouquets with unnecessary extras BloomsyBox only deals in “single-variety” hand-tied bunches. The flowers are sourced direct from suppliers in South America, Holland, Thailand and California meaning no middle-man mark-up to increase the price.
My flowers came on Friday around noon. They were stabilized in a box so they would not bounce around in the box. They were also wrapped in brown paper, and came with a few instruction cards.
I will be VERY HONEST with you. My first impression was not good… I opened the box and I thought of “crap these flowers are half dead and kind of ugly”. Being that I needed to offer an honest review I was about ready to call the nice folks at BloomsyBox and tell them I think my flowers must have been in the heat too long or something… because they looked kind of sad.
Just then, I noticed a card in my box that said, ” Uh Oh, Do Your Flowers Look Dead? Don’t Worry!”. I was skeptical but also relieved. The card then went on to inform me that my Alstroemerias are still in bud, they are not wilted or dead… instead they have not bloomed yet. They should bloom within 48 hours and can last up to 15 days. Don’t fret my flowers are perfectly healthy, they are just late bloomers.
Who ever wrote that card for BloomsyBox needs are raise or a promotion because it totally saved me from having to call customer service about my sad looking flowers.
Day one, I took my flowers out of the box, cut the bottom of the stems off and added them to a vase of water with the flower food they provided in the package. They looked a little sad… but thanks to my note I had hoped they might perk up a bit. But they did smell amazing so that was already a huge bonus!
Day two, I came down to see a total transformation. The flowers had “drank” about two inches of the water out of the vase, and they had started to open. They were beautiful and looked nothing like they had the day before, what a difference 24 hours can make!
Day three, by the third day most of the buds had opened to show even larger blooms than the day before. I have never had an alstroemerias bouquet before but they are stunning! They really should come with a copy of the ugly duckling book inside the box, because it is quite amazing the transformation that happened in just 48 hours. A reminder that you should never judge a book or flowers by its cover or buds, lol.
