If you haven’t heard, Instagram has changed their Terms of Service. As of January 16, 2013 Instagram has the right to use and sell your photos to outside sources. Who knows what will happen with your photos at that point. Below are the points listed in their new change of policy that show they can sell your photos. And as of right now there is no “opt out” option.
-
Instagram does not claim ownership of any Content that you post on or through the Service. Instead, you hereby grant to Instagram a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to use the Content that you post on or through the Service, except that you can control who can view certain of your Content and activities on the Service as described in the Service’s Privacy Policy, available here:http://instagram.com/legal/privacy/.
-
Some or all of the Service may be supported by advertising revenue. To help us deliver interesting paid or sponsored content or promotions, you agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you. If you are under the age of eighteen (18), or under any other applicable age of majority, you represent that at least one of your parents or legal guardians has also agreed to this provision (and the use of your name, likeness, username, and/or photos (along with any associated metadata)) on your behalf.
-
You acknowledge that we may not always identify paid services, sponsored content, or commercial communications as such.
So if you don’t mind your family, your kids, your home used as commercials in who knows where or in who knows what type of commercial then there are a couple things you might want to consider.
Many Instagram accounts are being deleted. But you may need to save your photos first, if you haven’t already. Instaport is an app that can help you export your photos off of your account and on to your computer.
Then you may want to consider deleting your Instagram account. To do that go to Instagram help doc here
Some other options are to wait it out. Yes its Instagram’s way of trying to make a living. Who knows what will happen in the future with more and more businesses still flocking to Instagram to promote their brand. I think it’s safe to say that Instagram can still be used to promote your brand. If you want to boost your social engagement on Instagram, you can easily Buy followers that are real here.
