Floppy Disk Pen Holder ~ Easy, DIY, Recycled Craft

Earth day is April 22nd this year.  Why not celebrate by making something new out of some old items that would just end up in the trash?  I came across these gems a few days ago, who remembers floppy disks?  My computer won’t take them, but they are so fun and “retro”  I couldn’t resist making something out of them!

You will need:

Hot glue gun/ sticks

floppy disks

This is so easy and would make a great gift for any “nerd” in your life!

Begin by warming up your hot glue gun.  Start by putting a thin line on one edge of a disk and attaching another disk to it.  Some of mine still had labels on them, but I just put the label side on the inside where it wouldn’t be seen as easily.  Continue to glue the sides together.  Once you have your sides glued together, take your floppy disk that will be on the bottom and put a line of hot glue around the whole outside of it.  Set your 4 “walls” on top and press firmly to set it.

That’s it!  Add some pens, markers or pencils and you have a cute, new pencil holder!  I am thinking these would be cute for a school computer teacher, an IT professional, or just to use on your desk at home.
