Spider Cupcakes Halloween Treat Idea, last minute Halloween Party Ideas

These would be so cute for a Halloween class party. The ingredients/directions yields 24 cupcakes.

Ingredients For Spider Cupcakes
1 box 18.25 oz. cake mix, your desired flavor + ingredients to make
1 can Frosting, your desired flavor or prepare our recipe below.
1 package 16 oz. Twizzler’s black licorice
10.5 oz. sweet topping, chocolate sprinkles {we used Betty Crocker}
1 package 14 oz. Wilton candy melts, white
1 tube 0.67oz. black decorating gel
24 baking cups

Directions For Spider Cupcakes
1. Make cupcakes per packaged directions.
2. {If using our recipe for frosting, prepare.}
3. Frost each cupcake.
4. Dip each cupcake in chocolate sprinkles.
5. Cutting length wise, cut licorice down the middle; then fold pieces over, cut in half. {you will need to pieces of licorice per spider}
6. Pinch about a 1/2 inch of the licorice, to make it bend. Stick the pinched part into the cupcake.
7. Press down on the frosting around the legs to help adhere the legs. Once all eight legs are secured, top with additional sprinkles to finish the look.
8. Take two chocolate Wilton discs, place a dab of icing on each disc, place on cupcakes for eyes.
9. Take your black gel pin and make the pupils. Your finished!

Ingredients For Chocolate Frosting
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, unsalted, brought to room temp
1/2 cup Crisco
1/3 cup cocoa, natural unsweetened
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons milk

Directions For Frosting
1. In a standing mixer, beat butter and Crisco until smooth. Add powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, milk and beat until incorporated. Texture should be smooth. If you think your frosting is to thick add 1 teaspoon at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
