Easy Halloween Treats Frankenstein Cakes

Halloween is so fun for both kids and adults,  I love to make fun treats for Halloween parties. But I prefer to make fast and easy treats that will bring a smile to their face but won’t take all day.  These Frankenstein Cakes are so simple because you are not cooking anything, instead just decorating. So essentially they are a “craft/treat” my older girls love making them, fun project for tweens/ teens.

Ingredients:

Halloween food easy ideas for kids treats, Frankenstein Cakes Fast and Easy Halloween treats for kids, Halloween party food and easy recipesInstructions:

  1. Set wax paper on counter or work surface, open other items and set on cookie sheet or in bowls. Unwrap snack cakes.
  2. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a bowl according to the package’s instructions.
  3. Start with the hair or brown chocolate.  Dip one end of the snack cakes into the semi-sweet chocolates.  For Frankenstein, we just dipped the ends.  For the Brides of Frankenstein, we dipped about half of the snack cake in the semi-sweet chocolate.  You may need a knife to help spread the chocolate.
  4. Set out on wax paper and allow to air dry.  The melting wafers harden much faster and are so easy to work with!  But if you love the idea of an extra layer of chocolate, the chocolates work just fine too!
  5. Melt the green candy wafers according to package instructions into a bowl.
  6. Once the hair has hardened, you will dip the opposite corner in the green mix.
  7. Using the decorating gel, attach two eyes on each snack.
  8. Dip a Sixlet in the green candy melts and attach the nose on each snack.
  9. Use the decorating gel to create a smile, eye lashes or scar marks on your Frankensteins.
  10. For the Bride of Frankenstein, use a drawing tip or a ribbon tip and make some waves with white frosting on her hair.

Fall Corn Craft ~ Easy Thanksgiving Snacks #KidCraft

Fall Corn Craft~ Easy Thanksgiving Snacks

Here is a fun craft to make for the kids to celebrate Thanksgiving!  Who doesn’t love an excuse to eat Reese’s Pieces?!

You will need

  • Reese’s Pieces candy
  • Snack size Ziploc bags
  • Brown paper lunch bags
  • Twine or ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Begin by filling your snack bags with Reese’s Pieces.  When they are full, tape the “closure down to the bottom of the bag.  For the top of your ear of corn, you will want to tape the closure at an angle to prevent it from showing.  If it isn’t completely smooth underneath, that is okay, it won’t show other then the very top.

Grab one brown paper lunch bag.  Open it up and cut down the side seams to cut in half.  Cut off the bottom.

You should end up with two equal pieces.  At the top of each of these cut 3 lines about 2-3 inches down.  Now you are going to want to take each of those 3 sections and give them a slightly pointy look.  Just trim the sides of them so they resemble a corn husk, not so much a brown paper bag.

Take your baggie of Reese’s pieces and place them in the center.  Make sure your corn husks are a little taller then your baggie, but not a huge difference.  Bunch up the brown paper bag at the base of your snack bag and secure together with a piece of twine or ribbon when you have it positioned the way you want. You should have quite a bit of brown bag hanging over the bottom, that is okay.  We are going to trim it off once your bags are tied together.

Oreo Cookie Bats, a fun and easy Halloween treat that is sure to make your family smile!  They are crazy easy to make too, oh and did I mention only 4 ingredients. Gotta love an easy recipe that is this adorable!

Oreo Cookie Bats Easy Halloween Treats

How many of you have a Halloween party every year? Or maybe just watch a spooky movie and make some fun treats to share with your friends and family?  If you are looking for an EASY recipe that is spooky and cute then you are going to love these Oreo Cookie Bats. So easy that my 9 and 11 year old girls totally made these all by themselves.

Ingredients:

Directions

First step, you will want to melt your chocolate chips or melting chocolate. I do this by putting them in the microwave for 15 seconds at a time. Take them out and stir them each time, until smooth and melted.  I melted mine in a Ziploc bag, and then cut the tip off the corner to use it like a piping bag.  Make sure your whole is not too big. This will allow you to have better control of your melted chocolate.

Next you will want to take the filling out of your large Oreo’s. You just need the cookie part not the filling. You will need 1/2 of the cookie (or one whole side) for each bat you make.  Once you take the frosting out of the middle, break each side in half. This will now become the wings to your bat.

Place  the wings of your bat face down on a plate. The rounded edge is the top of the wing and the broken cookie part is the bottom. Add some melted chocolate to the tip of each of these, and put a mini Oreo on the middle. The mini Oreo will become the body of your bat.  These will need to sit, and allow the chocolate to firm up or your bats will fall apart.  If you are in a hurry move them into the freezer and they will firm up, within just a few minutes.

Once the chocolate has cooled and the wings are secured to the bat body. Flip over your bat and add two drops of chocolate to the front and attach the candy eyeballs. Allow for the chocolate to harden and you are ready to eat your Oreo Cookie Bats!

Candy corn rice krispy treat pops

I love rice krispy treats! I wanted them in place of cake at my wedding, but my husband thought I was insane.  He was probably right, but I still love them (and him) haha!

This Halloween, make these fun candy corn pops for a cute Halloween snack.

You will need

rice krispies

marshmallows

butter

red and yellow food coloring

round pan (I used a 9 inch cake pan)

lollipop sticks

Begin by making rice krispie treats (here is the recipe)

Once you have your treats mixed up, you will need to separate them into 3 sections. Your white, tip section doesn’t need very much, the middle and outer ring will need the bulk of it, the outer ring needing a little more.

You will need to work quickly to get these steps done before they harden, but don’t stress, it isn’t hard to do.

Press your white section into the pan in a circle.  I used about a cup of the mixture for this part. I also buttered my fingers to press it down without it sticking too much to my hands.

Once the white was pressed in, I added food coloring to my other sections. The orange section will need drops of yellow and red to make the orange. The yellow section will need just the yellow. Unfortunately I didn’t think to measure just how many drops I used. Just add a few and add a couple of more as you go if you don’t have enough.

Take a handful at a time and press around the white layer in a circle. Press in firmly. Do the same with the outer layer, pressing them together so that they don’t fall apart.

Let them cool and harden for a while. When they feel firm and are not warm at all, cut into slices and stick a lollipop stick in the bottom.

Now you have a fun treat for Halloween!
