Thrifty Tips on JoAnns Pattern sale

Thanks to  Jude at dolcecapecod for passing along these wonderful deals in the JoAnn Fabric sales brochure this week. If you’re a crafter or sewer, sign up for the sales flyers, or go online so you’ll receive a weekly e-mail with coupons. There’s a 40 to 50 percent off coupon at least once every few weeks.

As for the bargains, first, there are fabulous PATTERN SALES at Joanns this month. The big one is McCall Patterns for only 99 cents. That’s on Independence Day weekend, Friday through Monday, July 2-5. Vogue patterns are also on sale during that same period, and they’re just $3.99 (this is the one veteran sewers REALLY look for; Vogue patterns are wonderful, but they can be really expensive!).

Patterns go on sale again later that week, Thursday through Saturday, July 8-10, this time with Butterick patterns for just $1.99. Too busy with all the July 4th stuff? Hold off until July 15-17, Thursday through Saturday again, when Simplicity patterns are $1.99.

On all of these sales, there’s a limit of 10. It’s a very good time to stock up on fall, winter and holiday sewing projects. And why wait for what experienced sewers call Amateur Hour, aka Halloween? You probably have a good idea of what your child wants (or you can find out?), and this way, you won’t have to hunt frantically for a sold-out McCall’s Spiderman pattern.

Speaking of kids, don’t miss out on summer crafting supplies. For the Independence Day weekend, DMC flosses are 3 for 99 cents, and Foamies Craft Foam is 40% off. But my favorite all-month-long sale (and the one I’m rushing in for after work tomorrow) are the foam brushes, priced at 5 for $1.00. Not just the teeny ones, either — you can choose the 1 inch, 2 inch or 3 inch size.
