Crabby Croissants- Fun meal idea for kids

Thanks to The Thieving Bear for passing along this adorable creation and recipe for a Crabby Croissants .   My kids would totally love this.  I need to remember this for next time we go to the beach, what a fun surprise!  If you would like to be a featured guest post on Look What I Made, watch for our weekly post each Tuesday called A Thrifty online craft fair, link up and you may be selected for our weekly feature post.

This recipe is super easy, extremely fun to make with children and perfectly festive for Summer! The nice thing about this sandwich is that  I already had most of the ingredients on hand.  Here’s what you’ll need:

Sandwich Stuffing (we used tuna from the pantry)
Olives, sliced (from the pantry)
Baby Carrots
Red Pepper
Croissants
Cream Cheese
Pinch of Flour
Toothpicks (from the pantry)

Prepare your sandwich stuffing.  Slice a large slit at the back of the croissant.  Stuff the croissant from the back.
Cut and de-seed the pepper.  Shape two claws and a mouth.  I thought this would be hard, but it turned out to be very easy.  Make a slit in the croissant where the claws will go and put the red pepper piece in just a little ways.
Put a little dab of cream cheese on the mouth piece and place where you’d like.
Put two toothpicks in the top of the croissant.  Next you want to make small cream cheese balls (I used a little bit of flour on my hands to keep the cream cheese from sticking.  Place the cream cheese balls gently on top of the toothpicks.  Top with an olive slice.  Press gently.  Place 3 baby carrots on each side for legs!  Garnish with lettuce if desired and Viola!  You’ve got Krabby Kroissants!
