Thanks to Nicole for passing this along….
I wanted to pass on a deal that I found on fresh fruit. It is at the Caldwell Idaho Orchard, in Caldwell.
The dock is where you buy the fruit and it is on the North West corner of Frost Rd. and Pear Rd. To get there, take Karcher Rd West until it turns South. That is about 9.5 to 10 miles from the 1-84. You could turn on the first street to the right, Hoskins Rd, which is in the turn where Karcher turns South, turn right on Hoskins, then the first street which is Frost, turn left. Pear is the next street you come to. Otherwise turn directly on to Pear Rd which is after the Karcher turns South turning into Sunnyslope. Then Frost Rd is the first x intersection. There is 2 streets before that, but they are into the orchards and are very easy to miss.
They open at 9 am. I don’t know when they close (except on Saturday which is noon) but I am assuming it’s office type hours.
The apples are 13 cents a pound for jonathan and gala apples.
The pears are 22 cents a pound and that is bartlett pears.
Cash or check.
Bring containers to put them in or pay 50 cents for the box to put them in. Bags, plastic or reusable won’t work on the scale there. Boxes are best. They are already picked in a bins that are 4 ft x 4 ft x 2-3 ft tall. Buy a little or buy a lot.
I was there on Saturday, 10/8, and it was supposed to end then, but it was extended into this week. I don’t know how long it will go.
