Remembering 9/11

It has been 8 years since 9/11, It was a day that changed the lives of many people, and a day we should always remember.  Our alarm clock went off and the radio came on, before Matt hit the snooze button we were both shocked to hear the news that was going on in New York City.  We rolled out of bed turned on the local news, and tried to get ready for our day at work.  But then the second plane struck, right on our TV screen, with our mouths open and in total shock we could not believe our eyes.   That day was filled with many emotions.  But more than anything I remember laying in my bed that night crying, rubbing my very 8 month pregnant tummy, and praying to the Lord.  I was terrified as to what kind of world I was going to bring my child into.  I did not know if these attacks were going to continue, that was the hardest part for me the unknown.

Matt was trying to comfort me, he told me that we would not let this happen to America, we would stand up and defend our country.  The next day I invited all my neighbors to hang flags we all tied yellow ribbons around our trees.  We all seemed to take notice of those around us, we seemed to take time to bow our heads in prayer.  That flag in my yard seemed to really mean something to me, I was proud to be an American and we were going to come together as a country.  I realized that my freedom comes at a price and is not something to be taken lightly.

So to all of you who lost someone on that day, my heart goes out to you.  It was a day that forever changed my life, it has made me strive to be a better person.  For all of you who have fought to protect our freedom, or continue to serve our country, I thank you.  The sacrifice you have made does not go unnoticed, we pray for you and your families!  God Bless American!
