how to make dogs STOP barking 3 ways that will change your life and make you love your dog again, pet tricksMy in-laws have a small yard  have made it beautiful and like to spend time outside.  Unfortunately the neighbors behind them have 3 large dogs and the owners work, which leaves the dogs outside all day BARKING non-stop. It is enough to make you go mad, and they can not even go outside to enjoy their own backyard.  One of their friends told them about the electronic dog whistle that will help train the dogs not to bark.  They did not know if it would work but were desperate for a solution.

They picked one up at a local pet store for $60 (it was just like the ones below that is on sale for only $29) they put it outside and a miracle happened the dogs STOPPED barking.  When the dogs  bark a ultrasonic sound comes out that  humans can not hear but dogs can… and it teaches the dogs to STOP barking. It worked for a few weeks then the barking started up again. They thought maybe the dogs just got use to the noise….. nope it turned out it just ran out of batteries.  New batteries were put in and now they have a quite yard again.

I had no idea things like this even existed so I thought I would pass it along in case any of you have some noisy dogs in your neighborhood too. Here are 3 options below.

CLD Brands Dog Training Ultrasonic Sound Whistle – Bonus User’s Guide and Training Tips – Adjustable Pitch Frequency – Control Barking – Teach Commands – Discipline

  • OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Train your dog to follow simple commands such as “sit”, “come”, “stay”, “down” and to change direction by using different whistle patterns for each one. MULTI-PURPOSE: The ultrasonic dog whistle can also be used for other pet birds (such as pigeons) to establish a good tool for communication and discipline as well as to train hunting dogs. USER’S GUIDE: FREE eBook with Training Tips for Your Dog and INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE TRAINING WHISTLE.
  • DISCIPLINES: Are you out of things to do to silence your dog? Simply blow the ultrasonic whistle using the right frequency and get your dog’s attention when nothing else seems to work. ADJUSTABLE FREQUENCIES: By simply turning the screw at the end of the whistle, you can adjust the frequency to find the one that your dog best responds to.
  • HOW ABOUT THE NEIGHBOR’S DOG?: The ultrasonic whistle is the best safe deterrent for the neighbor’s dog. It will begin to respond too. No more unnecessary barks!
  • CAN HUMANS HEAR IT or IS IT COMPLETELY SILENT?: Please note this whistle is not COMPLETELY Silent. You will hear it when you use it. This dog whistle, as well as ALL silent dog whistles, does produce a secondary audible sound. This sound is produced by the volume of air that goes across the whistle. Blowing lightly on the whistle reduces the audible sound, and actually increases the ultrasonic sound that dog’s hear.

Sheep dog whistles typically aren't ultrasonic. They use a shepherd's whistle or some herders can just do them naturally. I worked and lived at a training and boarding facility that was home to five working border collies. A lot just use the vocal commands as well. Also I work at a boarding kennel now where the people running it don't know anything about dogs and use one of those ultrasonic bark things and I always know when it's on because if a dog barks I get an insane headache. If it causes me pain and I can't even hear it, what the hell do you think it's doing to the dog's heads?! Inflicting pain on dogs to "correct" behavior is naive, inhumane, scientifically unsound, and lazy. Actually train dogs to do things and if it's your neighbors dog and they're bothering you because you can't handle that dogs bark, what, are they labs? File a noise complaint and hopefully put pressure on the neighbor to be more responsible about working with their animals and correcting their behavior. How is this 3 solutions if it's just 3 different of the same ridiculous product?

How about spending time and bonding with your dog instead using shit that could just stress them even more? And neighbors' dogs? How about just TALKING to them, instead of fucking with a dog that's not yours! This is a pretty disgusting article. I don't love my dogs any less because they bark, actually they bark, usually, for good reasons. If your dog is JUST BARKING it's because it needs something, probably more mental and physical stimulus than your boring backyard! If you don't like barking don't get a dog, get a stuffed animal!

@Twisted_Wraps you're funny.. we have "talked" to our neighbor's dogs for 5 years over our fence that is only 4ft high, that way we can talk with our friendly neighbors.. and they are retired and are home with their 2 dogs and have them with them all day long as they run into the garage where he is at all day, and back out into the backyard freely... and they still bark all day long.. just like some people are talkative... and wont shut up... some dogs are too.. and a ultrasonic whistle isnt stressful, its the same thing dog trainers use in dog training and the same thing sheep herders use to give commands... its just ultasonic so only dogs here and it doesn't bother humans

I can't get over how remarkable your response is. Well put. I love it. Its incredible the lengths people will go to avoid doing the work themselves.

The scary thing about these tools to stop dogs from barking are the people who will use them on other people's dogs not understanding the damage that they can do.  I have a dog who barks a lot - if you stay off of our property, then it's not a problem, but if you come onto our property, all of our dogs are going to go nuts, especially Zoey.

Zoey also has anxiety and tools like these would aggravate that anxiety.

A better method is to avoid the short cut and work with a dog trainer.
