About Us

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 10 years to my best friend. I am head over heels in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together.

I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet.

I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

Albertsons Double Ideas

albertsonsIn todays Sunday paper you should find a single page Albertsons ad, and on the bottom of it is 3 twice the value coupons. You can use 3 twice the value (double coupons) per family per shopping trip.  They will double any coupon up to the value of $1.00 making that coupon twice its value.  SO if you use a .75 cent coupon it will double up to $1.50 or if you use a $1.00 coupon it will double to $2.00.  They will not double a coupon for $1.01 or more. • I’m going to hit the coffee mate. 2.49 each. I have printables for 1.00 off and double that for 2.00 off making my coffee mate .49 ( thanks Anna)
  • My Albertsons had the Oven Bags for your Turkey (Reynolds I think) on sale 1.00.. there was a couple a couple weeks back for .50 off one.. doubled makes them FREE!  The oven bags were for the 8-24 pounders, and it was a two pack… but still… makes it FREE – one for turkey day and the other for xmas! (Thanks Amy)
  • I just wanted to add a couple other doubler ideas. My Albertson’s had Danimals smoothie 6 packs on clearance for $2.29 so I was able to score them for 29 cents. Also Danimals crush cups are $2.49 so they would only be 49 cents after coupon and doubler. Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey sausage links or patties were also on sale for &2.49 which made them 49 cents each after coupon and doubler. What a sweet deal! Suave shampoo and conditioner are still on sale 10 for $10 which makes them free after coupon and doubler. Hope this helps! ( Thanks Debani)

    Here is another doubling idea.
On some of the Oroweat bread is $1 peelies good on any Oroweat item on them. The ones I bought were 1.89 so it was free with doublers. Previously I had a Oroweat bread coupon I wanted to use that was only good on a certain variety of bread but could never seem to find them. I found other Oroweat varieties but not the kind that the coupon was for. My point to this is not all of the Oroweat is right next to each other. Some are next to bagels and some are close to the buns.
Also on the same note, some of the varieties are BOGO. I picked those up because I preferred those over the others (not because of price because either way it would be free). At the register, one of my favorite cashiers was ringing me up and wouldn’t let me use the coupon on the free item. He said they sent out letters 3 times today stating if it’s a free item, you can’t use a coupon on it. I can see not using a store doubler coupon but a manufacturer coupon doesn’t make sense to me. So, it seems like the pie and ice cream rules now apply to everything. No coupons on free items. This is at Meridian & Fairview/Cherry.

Thanks Karyl – I will go back and look! I appreciate it!

  • Poopydiaper

Poopydiaper predicted doublers and was correct! Go doublers!

  • Karyl

Cathy, keep searching for the steamfresh – I just got mine today – and the coupon was .35 off one.

  • Cathy

I was just checking out my coupons to get my game plan ready for tommorrow and wanted to point out that the birds eye coupon I had specifically excludes the steamfresh variety. Bummer! I could use some frozen veggies.

    To Anna,
Coffeemate is a better deal at Walgreens this week. They are buy one get one free at 2.49 each so it’s 2.49 for both minus 2 $1/1 Q’s so pay .49 for 2.

Update on the Wheat Thin’s deal…I went back because it was such a good deal and also because I found 2 more coupons $1/2. The next cashier I went to said I really shouldn’t be able to use both my coupons and their $3/4 because it was like using 2 mc coupons for one item. She said she would do it this time. I just wanted to warn you all if you try it and your store doesn’t allow you to use all coupons. But if you double your wheat thins coupon after Albertson’s $1.79 each sale, I think it still is a good deal.

  • Shellie yes they are regional and Calf does not get them….bummer

  • Shellie

Are the doublers in the ad a regional thing? Can you post a pic of what it looks like, please. I’m in So Cal and could not find it in my ad.

Also going to hit the ritz cracker deal.

My Albertson’s had a sign by the Wheat Thins, Triscuits and Ritz…buy 4 and receive $3.00 off instantly (coupon was at the register) They were $1.79 each for a total of $7.16 minus the $3.00 register coupon…then I had one coupon for $1.00/2 and doubled that one for another $2.00 off. Total bill was $2.16 for four boxes! If you had two coupons to double, it would have been even a better deal!
