Christmas Bunting~Easy DIY

Looking for an expensive, cute way to bring in some of the Christmas season to your home?  Is your holiday decor getting a little boring?  Spruce it up with this quick, easy craft and enjoy it all season long.

You will need:

Scrapbook paper (decorated is best)

yarn

hot glue gun and hot glue sticks (see Glue Guns Direct)

scissors

Begin by picking out a few patterns of paper.  I had 7 different ones.  I wouldn’t do any more then that to prevent it from being too long and too busy.

Cut 1 1/2 inch strips out of your paper.  Mine were 5 1/2 inches long.  Fold that strip in half, across the narrow way.  Not across the length of the strip of paper.

I had 4 strips of each of my 7 patterns.  It made it pretty long.  If you don’t want a very long bunting I would recommend less patterns and less then 4 of each pattern.

Once your paper is folded in half, you are going to cut a triangle off of the end that isn’t folded.  Make sure you are cutting through both layers of paper, not just one.

These triangles don’t have to be perfect.

Once you have those cut out, you are ready to glue the paper to the yarn.  Cut the yarn to the length you want your bunting to be.  Place the paper so that your folded, middle portion is on your yarn.  You are going to glue the paper together so that the yarn ends up in the middle.  Put a small amount of hot glue in the middle, and spread it down each of the “legs” (where you just cut your triangle from) you want to prevent them from curling.  Fold the paper over and press together.

Once you are all done, move the pieces of your bunting so they are all nicely, evenly spaced.  Tie a knot in each end of the yarn and hang where you want it.

There you go!  Any easy craft, that is high impact and versatile.  Change up the colors and create one for Valentine’s day, Halloween or just to match your home decor.
