We can all buy Alfredo Sauce in a jar or make it from a packet…but it is not very good. A few years ago my Mother in law made me Alfredo Sauce from scratch, I was pregnant and everything made me sick. She made this and I was in shock at how good it was, I ate it for 3 days in a row. It has now become a favorite meal at our house. Plus it is SO easy to make.
All you need is
1/4 cup butter ( is has to real butter or it will get really oily)
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese
1/8 teaspoon Pepper
Put them in a pan on Medium heat….and stir them till they well blended. You want to make sure to heat it on medium heat or it will not set up right. Keep mixing it, once it starts to get a few bubbles and thickens take off heat. Do NOT let it come to a full rolling boil or the sauce will get really thick and the oil will separate. ( I know this because i made that mistake a few times) Serve over your favorite pasta.
If you want to spice it up a bit you can add, sausage, garlic, basil, Parsley or what ever makes you happy.
I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 13 years to my best friend. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". If you didn't know already - I'm a Heart Mom. Our oldest has a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He basically has half a heart. We even started a charity called Save Lives Save Money to help other heart families in their time of need. Where couponers give back to help pay for basic needs of families in need.
I was raised on a small dairy farm. I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, and coupon shop, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch recipes and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet. You can follow our weekly Menu Plan to see how you can coupon and eat healthy at the same time!
I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget.
