Coffee Filter Flowers, Great For Mother’s Day

These flowers are great because they don’t die for one, and they are so pretty, and can be any color combo you want to make them!  I really love how pretty they turned out! Even so, I still love getting flowers from sophycrownflowers.ie on Mother’s Day.

You will need:

Coffee filters

Washable markers

Pipe cleaners

Water bottle that does a mist

Something to put under the coffee filters to protect your table

Begin by coloring your filters in whatever colors you choose.  Some of mine I did 3 colors and some of them I did 2. I used 4 coffee filters per flower to give it a nice, full look.

If you notice, I wasn’t super worried about my lines looking neat, or being the same direction like you would normally be when you are coloring.  You just want to get the surface of the coffee filter covered more then anything.

Once you have your coffee filters colored, you will line them up on a covered surface (this keeps it from bleeding all over your table top).

The lines on my paper are from paint.  This is butcher paper that I use over and over for crafty stuff like this. Once you have all of your coffee filters spread out, give them a light spray with your water bottle on a fine mist setting. Don’t drench them, just enough that the whole surface gets wet.  Let them set until dry before trying to do anything with them.

Once they are dry you are ready to attach the pipe cleaner stem. I put my 4 coffee filters together, and bunched them into a point at the bottom.  This is where I wrapped the pipe cleaner.

Wrap the pipe cleaner around a few times so that it is secure. Once this is done, you can fluff it up to give it a more full, realistic look.  If you don’t like the fullness of the blooms at this size, try adding more filters, or take some away.  Play with it until you love the way they look!

I really love how they look!  I love the bright, bold colors of them!  I think my favorite is the royal blue and aqua combo.  Which one is your favorite?
