Mother’s Day was a few weeks ago, and I have officially been a mother for a little over 14 years now. A lot has changed in 14 years, being a mom to 5 kids is exhausting and wonderful all at the same time. My baby girl is going to be two before I know it and it makes me sad to know that this baby phase of our life will soon be over. But one thing we have learned about having 5 kids is that our life gets crazy busy, but we have to choose to slow down and just enjoy the little moments.
With my older kids I was in a hurry to watch them grow and could not wait for them to get to the next step or phase of their life. Each new thing they did was so exciting. I was learning how to be a Mom as they were learning about life. We made a pretty good team, but as I look back I realize the years flew by. I was so excited to always be getting to the next step that sometimes I forgot to just live for that moment!
We love all our children, but with baby number 5 both my husband and I agree that we have learned to truly enjoy every moment with her. Even the late night feedings or the diaper blowouts, we know they will be gone all to soon. Good thing she was baby number 5 because she is full of spunk and has a personality bigger than life. She sure is fun!
Last week we went on a Mommy and Me date…. our destination was Walmart. To a child, Walmart it is full of excitement and opportunities to learn and explore. I went with the goal to let her explore and just have fun. She loves to watch Minnie Mouse so we were going to see how many “Me Me’s” she could find. Walmart has a huge Minnie Mouse selection.
We found a ton of “Me Me’s” throughout the store. Everything from Minnie Mouse hats, clothing, cups, bedding, bedroom sets, car seats, cribs, toys, books, and even fabric in their craft section. I was amazed at how many different items we found in the store, and she was the one to spot almost every single one. She was so excited about every single Minnie Mouse she found. Have you ever checked out Disney Baby at Walmart?
We were in the store for over an hour and she had so much fun, but I could see her little eyes starting to grow tired and nap time was approaching. She decided she wanted to use her new blanket as a pillow in the shopping cart and was ready to start nap time right there in the cart. Which of course made all the cute little old ladies shopping at Walmart, stop and say hi.
We checked out and came home with a few treasures or souvenirs (who says you have to go all the way to Disneyland to have a magical day). We bought a Minnie Mouse hat, cup, night gown and blanket. Before we could even get back home our little princess had fallen asleep and was ready for her nap.
When her brothers and sisters came home from school she was SO excited to show them all her “Me Me’s” and wanted to share her Minnie Mouse cup with them. As night time approached and we got ready for bed, and she put on her brand new night gown and snuggled with Mommy in her new fuzzy blanket. These are the moments that I love about being a Mom, the snuggles the smiles and the sweet kisses from my baby girl, and it was easy to see that today was a good day!
