Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Monday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Shirley Taylor this is the 196th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this wonderful family in a village in the southern part of Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief whom we had to meet before we entered the village. He recommended the Monday family to us and they were very interesting to meet. Mrs Monday is a widow, she and her 4 kids live in a one bedroom mudhouse that has no electricity or plumbing. This village also has a problem with water and to get water they have to fetch from their local stream or collect rain water.
Their home, Neighbors saw us coming and came to visit and see why we came.
The Mondays cook in a semi open kitchen that they built out of sticks and palm fonds. They use firewood to cook because it costs very little to gather and use. Mrs Monday lost her husband two years ago and since then she has been taking care of her family. She is a farmer and she grows cassava. It was school time when we arrived and she told us that she could not afford to send her last kid to school and that is why he was at home with her.

We were happy to meet this family. It takes us four hours to get to this village and they are always very welcoming to us. The Monday family were grateful to receive their bag of Rice and expressed their thanks to those who donated to their family. They appreciate this gift and will benefit from the food for a long while.
