. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Dee family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Caroline Fridell this is the 268th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Dee family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Dees have eight children and they live in this two bedroom mudhouse. They do not have plumbing or electricity and to fetch water they have to trek for miles to the nearest stream.

The Dees cook in a semi open kitchen. They use firewood to cook because it is the cheapest that they can afford. The Dees are farmers and the reason Mrs Dee was not at home was because she was at the mill processing the corn they just harvested into flour. It is from this that they get money to feed their family and when the harvests suffers so do their family. The past year has been difficult for most farmers hard work with almost no profit.

We were very happy to meet this wonderful family. They were very grateful with their bag of Rice and thanked those who donated it to their family. We only met Mr Dee and one of his sons at home. Farmers have been hit very hard this year and our visit was very welcomed by the Dee family. We left with smiles on our faces because we left them in better state than when we met them.
