Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Effionh family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Dawna Hubbard this is the 351st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We came across this wonderful family at Ikot Oku. We met Mrs Blessing Effiong, her sisters and her 4 little children. Mr Nnamonso who is the head of the house was absent and had gone to the farm to do some work. They live in a little mud house surrounded with lots of trees. We went through bush tracks before we discovered this area they live. There is absence of water and electricity in this area.

We were favored enough to access their cooking space. The environment was quite rough and surrounded with ashes and tree woods. They didn’t have much kitchen equipments or even a tri-pot stand. They used large clay rocks to support their pots. Mrs blessing is a farmer too and has a little farm inside the bushes at the backyard. She is also assisted by her sisters.

The Effiong family was surprised to see us and were very happy to accept what we offered to them. And they also thanked the people who donated it to them.
