This pulled up in my timeline as a memory, I had forgotten all about this project . We had so much fun making this, I need to do it with my little girl before she gets too big! This would also make a great Mothers Day gift idea, since we all love our cute lil babies feet this is a way to remember them forever!
My little sister came to visit last week, while she was here we celebrated her daughters 1st birthday. I wanted to make her a gift to remember the day so my Mom and I did a fun little art project with our sweet little Rosie. We made Butterfly Feet on a canvas to hang on her wall a home. It turned out adorable and my little sister just loved it.
To make this project you will need:
- Art Canvas you can get them low as $1.50 each depending on size and style
- Craft Paint
- Make-up sponge
- Paint brush to do detail work or a sharpie marker
- Pencil
- White paper to practice on a few times before you try on the canvas
I would suggest your practice a few times on paper before you try the canvas. First step is to draw the outline of the butterfly body, so your know where to put the feet.
Use the make-up sponge to put paint on the bottom of the foot, we did a 3 color rainbow effect. Don’t get it too thick or it will cause their feet to SLIDE and make a mess.
Press the foot straight down, then lift up. I put a book under the middle of the canvas to give it more support when we pressed her foot down. You want to put the RIGHT foot on the LEFT side of the butterfly body and then do the opposite on the other side.
If the canvas gets a little messy, you can use white paint to clean up the edges and make the feet more defined.
Use a paint brush to fill in the body of the butterfly, or you could use a sharpie marker if you are not comfortable with a paint brush. Add swirls, shading or words to make it your own.
We love how it turned out!
I absolutely love this! I’m going to try and do it with my three girls on a larger canvas. I only hope mine turns out as cute as this one!
What a great gift idea!
