CHICKEN PROJECT 1115-1135 NWAMAKA’S ORPHANAGE HOME.

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our Chicken Orphanage Project or our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Project . In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We also met a young man named Isaac, smart and hard working but could not find employment. After talking a bit we found he had built a chicken coop and wanted to farm chickens. We asked him if he would raise chickens for us that would then be donated to feed children in local orphanages. The only food or supplies they get are what are donated, so they often go without any source of protein. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice or chickens. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here. Chickens are only available to purchase as once they are big enough to butcher, so if you see they are out of stock he is in the process or growing another flock.

The following story talks about our visitation to NWAMAKA’S ORPHANAGE HOME. chickens were donated, thanks to The Marlow Family and Melinda Nelson.  We donated Twenty (20) chickens. Thanks to generous donations.
As we stepped into the orphanage home, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the children and the caregivers. But what caught my attention was the excitement and buzz around the backyard, where a special delivery had just arrived – 20 fluffy chickens! The children’s eyes sparkled with delight as they gathered around the coop, eager to meet their new feathered friends. We spent small time with them learning about the chickens, their breeds, and how to care for them till they all are finally being killed and the children couldn’t wait to start collecting the chickens from their coop from their new flock for meat.
The donation of the chickens was a thoughtful gesture from a local farm, aimed at teaching the children about responsibility, sustainability, and the importance of nutrition. As we explored the backyard, I saw the children’s faces light up with wonder and curiosity, sharing stories jokingly that their favorite meat is chicken. The caregivers explained how the chickens would provide a valuable source of protein for the children’s meals, and how the chickens would become an integral part of their daily routine. It was heartwarming to see the joy and sense of purpose that the chickens brought to the orphanage.

As we prepared to leave, the children thanked us for the visit and showed off their new friends one last time. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and happiness knowing that the chickens would bring so much happiness and benefit to the orphanage. The experience left me with a renewed appreciation for the power of kindness and the impact that small gestures can have on the lives of others. The memory of the children’s smiling faces and the clucking of the chickens stayed with me long after we left the orphanage, a reminder of the joy and love that can be shared in the simplest of ways.
