Photo display from dollar store sign

Hi, friends! Tami here… I love this Photo display from dollar store sign I made! Our favorite vacation ever was our trip to Disneyland. I got to go for my first time right along with my kids last year and it was magical.

I was inspired by A Girl and a Glue Gun, who gave me the idea for this craft. If you don’t follow her, you definitely should! She took the paper off and made them into adorable Christmas signs. I took the lazy way out and here is what I did.

You will need:

This sign from Dollar Tree (you can buy it in bulk here, or go to your local Dollar Tree and grab one).

Scrapbook paper of choice

Washi tape, ribbon, something to accentuate the top

Mod Podge, double sided craft tape or craft glue of choice ( you don’t need all of these, just 1)

hot glue gun and sticks

Mini clothespin

Vinyl wording if wanted, scrapbook stickers or embellishments, any decoration you would like

First step is picking your scrapbook paper. Any 8.5×11 or 12×12 sheet will work. Turn your sign over and trace the paper on the back of the sheet and cut it out.

Since you are just covering the sign with scrapbook paper, there is no reason to worry about the design on the sign. I am not sure how long I want the Disney design up, so I didn’t mod podge it like I would normally do. I took a double sided tape gun I use for scrapbooking and ran it all over the back of the paper.

Once the paper is smoothed down I hot glued my clip where I wanted the photo to hang. I just eyeballed it but left it so I could also hang a vertical photo if I decided to.

I added vinyl that I cut myself. You could order some from someone that cuts it, or just skip that step. You want to be sure your scrapbook paper isn’t too busy if you are going to add vinyl, because it will be hard to see and read if it is.

Add your washi tape or ribbon and you are good to go! The sign does have a wood look there, so it isn’t necessary to add the washi tape, but I liked how the red tied it all in so just be sure you pick a coordinating color if you do this step.

That is it! Honestly, finding the scrapbook paper I wanted was probably the longest part of the project! I have a good size supply because I love it, so picking from my stash was a possibility for me. If you don’t have any on hand, any local craft store should have some and they all run sales and have coupons you can use frequently.
